How so?

The ethos of both types of music is quite similar - independence,
innovation . The early punk scene had a strong DIY ethic and bands helped
each other out with gigs and swapped/lent members all the time. Thats a
feature which it shares with the breakcore scene (as far as i'm concerned
at least). There was also a big zine community centered around places
like Bromley and CBGB's in New York. In a lot of ways its pretty similar
to the various forums/download sites/cities with big underground scenes that breakcore
has (albeit in a more sophisticated form). A lot of music is free, the
download link on this site being a great example, and the people who make
it are on the same level as the fans not stashed away in some fancy
recording studio with an army of producers. I think the comparison
between punk and breakcore makes a lot of sense really. Anyway, i'll stop
rambling now.

I think the main similartiy of breakcore and punk is the sheer fact that it completely shows a disregard for rules, and authority. if not musical ones, then copyright ones as well.
