DIY Type C Rubiks Cube Core Question?

I heard from one of my buddies that DIY Type C (Cube4you Brand Cube) cores break really easily since they are small..
Is this true? I just bought a C off my buddy and am now afraid to use it under fear of breaking the core?
Please Lighten me up on this
