Scanners and Naked Lunch are good Cronenberg films too, definitely on par with Videodrome.

Actually on the subject of films that actually scared me.... IT (up untill the ending of course) Saw it when i was about 14 an nearly pissed myself. haven't been able to whatch it since. :oops:

I read the book first, so I found it quite gay. But yeah, I get your points. Clowns living in sewers eating babies, yikes.

I guess Silence of the Lambs freaks me out. Not that it's horror, but Dr.Lecter is indeed creepy.

Yes people often cite IT as a scary film that they saw as a kid. I confess I didn't see it until only a few months ago, and I must say I thought it was awful. From what I understand the novel is very good and actually makes it clear that the monster is some Alien that can take on many forms and feed off fear, or something.

There seems to be this trend of making shit Stephen King book to film conversions. The worst I've seen is the night flier, it combines shite acting with shite directing and screenplay. What a terrible experience. What a terrible film.

I watched IT too when i was like 12, and nightmare on elmstreet, the first one, they made me have some sleepless night when i was young, especially because the adults couldn´t see IT, and that made me shit my pants when i was young. :lol:

i think that the only stephen king films that ever done the books justice were the shining and shawshank redemption...maybe misery aswell.
but i think that books are scarier medium than films anyway which is why the films never work as well.

i think people in american cinema have forgotton how to make great movies (with exception to the cohen brothers and lynch)

ive just recently seen the remake of Death Race 2000. fucking alful! how can you do that to such a beautiful movie?

Dolores Claiborne is actually a good drama. Needful Things is ok. Green Mile is allright. Secret Window is actually a good one. The Mist was nice too.

But yeah, usually the movies turn out fucking awful.

I thought Secret Window was a steaming pile of ass ejaculate personally, I really don't think Depp is the godsend that people make him out to be. Some of his roles he pulls off perfectly, others I think he'd have been better turning them down.
It's kinda like Football Factory, everyone says it's a good film, but I find it so cheesy and lame at points that I wish I could reclaim the 90 odd minutes I wasted watching it.

John Lithgow is a pimp. Another good flick that is actually somewhat scary which also stars Mr. Lithgow: Raising Cain!
