so who invented breakcore anyways?
Moderators: PEPCORE, SweetPeaPod, BreakforceOne, JohnMerrik
I think I read somewhere that back in the 80's some hardcore metal bands stating makin crazy industrial thrash metal, running at about 190bpm. The drummer from Napalm Death coined the term Grindcore. So when people started doing the same thing with breaks I imagine the term Breakcore was born.
Not really fussed tho as long as the scene keeps evolving and producers keep pushing the boundries I will be happy!
Viva la Breakcore!!!!

yah i didn't think to even go back that far, cause people like Noisex, Hypnoskull, Converter, Suicide Commado, were def a big era that saw huge shifts in not only approaches to music, but the production and execution as well...
man, now i want to start pulling out all those old records and CD's!!!
BLAST SOME BLAST FURNACE!
Yah! I was heavily into noise back then (not as much anymore, but I still love it) and didn't really "get" breakcore when I first heard Doll Doll Doll because it was so different. But because I was so familiar with artists like Panacea, Tarmvred and Needlesharing, my transition to breakcore was made a hell of a lot easier by this. Such an amazing record, I still love it!
Anyway I think after breakcore really took off was when a lot of noise artists started experimenting and expanding their own sounds and overall approach to music. For example, Iszoloscope's The Audient Void, which introduced breaks to his usual deliciously distorted beats, is influenced by The DJ Producer; Hypnoskull's Dark Skies From Planet E sees him ditching noise altogether and delving straight into breakcore and gabber (good move on his part, his noise stuff was rubbish!). Anyway I'm rambling.
Side note: have you seen the INSANE lineup for Maschinenfest this year?! Crikey, I'd sell vital organs to hit that... supposedly it's the last MF ever, waah!

Hahahah nope! I was high as a kite and just sitting there with my mouth open staring at him like a loon, then wondered why he got off at the next stop, hahah!

fuck yeah! When I hear the intro to that track, it makes my spine tingle. Whole album was my "punk" when I was a kid
it was the song that defined a generation...
but seriously how fresh does that shit still sound?! so simple too - no bullshit wankery involved - just add some sinister sounding horns and wa-la...instant riotcore that makes alec and the gangs shout of 'start the riot' sound pretty damn lame in comparison, sorry EVERYTHING that uses an amen sounds lame in comparison to "Straight Outta Compton"!!!

I dunno... this is a VERY close second.
It includes all elements of breakcore - the amen break, jungle vocals, sampling, and STILL sounds fresh even though it was recorded in 1992 (when Alec & co were just starting out). This track, imo, is perfection*.
*until fucking KORN came along and remixed it! *shakes fist*

yeah the video rocks as well..that whole album was crazy!
hmmm...its stuff like this whole 'debate' that reminds me that sometimes i really fucking do hate breakcore!
*thinks everybody should bow-down to the REAL originators of amen aggression and stop talking shite before some caps really DO get peeled!

doubt it dude, there were weirdoes messing around with homemade synths and whatnot way before the late 60s...and they were not making breakcore!

Haha. Aii, aii, ima recognize.
It's funny that Korn supposedly wrecked some song (can't access youtube at work but it sounds like that must've been an ice cube track) coz if it wasn't for korn i never would have come across ice cube. I remember being a bit stunned that he appeared on the family values tour video and it was the first time I had ever sat down and watched a rapper perform.
So props to Korn for getting metal kids into rap music.
No props to Limp Durst, though. The only reason he rapped was coz he couldn't sing.

when i saw cube at the first family values tour he knew that the crowd would reject him.
that nigga won the crowd over with some great drama.
he came on stage and people started booing, he didn't think nothing of it, he continues a few songs and the booing gets worse, cube then tells the dj "aye, stop the record, stop the record"
"i'm in my own hood and ya'll niggas ain't showing me no love"
Dub-c was his role dog on stage and still is. . . kinda like the hype man.
dub-c says: Aye, who came here to see Ice Cube?
the crowd boos soo hard.
ice cube said: Man fuck ya'll
drops the mic and walks off stage.
i thought to myself, fuck i really wanted to see ice cube and these ignorant racist fucks just ruined a show i wanted to see because they are close minded.
Dub-C is dumbfounded that ice cube as hard as he is left because a crowd boo'd him
dub-c was like: i thought that nigga was hard, X-member of N.W.A. . . . (chuckles)
he then says: i know how we can get this nigga to come out again.
IF YOU DON'T LIKE ICE CUBE I WANT ALL YA'LL TO SAY FUCK ICE CUBE!!!!
the crowd didn't oblige because they wanted to see Cube, but because they wanted to say it. . . .so they did.
"FUCK ICE CUBE!!"
the crowd roared.
dub-c encouraged them to do it again, they did it about 5 times.
Ice Cube walks on stage hard ass fuck with a mean look on his face and go up behind Dub-C.
puts the mic to his face and says: The Fuck You Say Nigga?
Dub-C looks surprised and turned around slowly.
the whole crowd was about to whiteness Ice Cube Kicking the Shit Out of Dub-C.
i felt guilty for just being in a crowd that was screaming this blasphemy.
Dub-C looed like that nigga was about to shit his pants.
"you know who the fuck you talking to nigga?"
"you Ice Cube"
"you know where the fuck i'm from nigga?"
Dub-C has a stupid look on his face, like he doesn't know.
he asks the crowd: "ya'll know whre this nigga is from?"
then you hear the dj scratch back and forth 6 time and nex thing you know cube says:
Straight outta Compton crazy motherfucker named Ice Cube From the gang called Niggaz With Attitudes When I'm called off I got a sawed off Squeeze the trigger and bodies are hauled off You too boy if ya fuck with me The police are gonna hafta come and get me Off yo ass that's how I'm goin out For the punk motherfuckers that's showin out Niggaz start to mumble, they wanna rumble Mix em and cook em in a pot like gumbo Goin off on a motherfucker like that with a gat that's pointed at yo ass So give it up smooth Ain't no tellin when I'm down for a jack move Here's a murder rap to keep yo dancin with a crime record like Charles Manson AK-47 is the tool Don't make me act the motherfuckin fool Me you can go toe to toe, no maybe I'm knockin niggaz out tha box, daily yo weekly, monthly and yearly until them dumb motherfuckers see clearly that I'm down with the capital C-P-T Boy you can't fuck with me So when I'm in your neighborhood, you better duck Coz Ice Cube is crazy as fuck As I leave, believe I'm stompin but when I come back, boy, I'm comin straight outta Compton
that dude worked that shit and won the crowd.

yeah he killed it at the metro here in melbourne too back when he toured with cypress hill...i think i must have been inbetween prison sentences / getting sodomized with garden equipment by other inmates
(yeah right! hahaha!) when i saw that...funniest shit was when he played 'fuck the police' and EVERYBODY in the building sung along to it - cos if you weren't you would have looked a little strange / suspicious...hehehe! my only complaint was when cube thanked coca-cola as they were the sponsors of the tour... but at least ice cube never had dinner with the president!
