"classic" breakcore?

Postby idontsnipe » Fri May 15, 2009 3:27 am

i'm kind of new to breakcore. i actually always knew of the genre but only started to investigate it more when people started discussing aphex twin versus venetian snares. to me a lot of breakcore i've listened to sounds like kind of a mash of styles, which is a good thing.

the different songs and artists i've heard draw from so many different sources that it becomes difficult to pin point the sound of breakcore, again a good thing. i'm just wondering are there any definitive albums, and to a lesser extent artists in general, i should check out that would get me more familiar with the genre?

i think a good addition to this list would be the mashcore offshoot

cardopusher, sickboy, shitmat, some rotator

they all seem pretty classic

i guess this would kinda go with your g-core but w/e

thanks for the recommendations. that list was a great starting point for some research into the genre. i do like a lot of harder jungle and drum n bass, but to be honest i'm not too much a fan of gabber type stuff. some breakcore descends into mashed amens played with 4 to the floor distorted kicks, which is not really what i'm into.

i own some venetian snares albums and one of my favourites is detrimentalist. i know some of you may view that as a "softer" sound but that is what i personally like listening to.

apart from the artists mentioned are there any other noteworthy raggacore artists out there?

In that case for the IDM Breaks I would like to recoment:
Drex, Flasbulb, Meander, Filaria, tapage (also a member here), Ra, Ddamage, Datachi and psimurgh.
Also listen to Oxygenfad. Jou proberly hate 95 precent of wath he hase made. Buth the 5 precent jou wil like is a lot of stuf.
Thats becouse Oxygenfad makes like 2 albums a week or somting.

For the Ragacore: Soundmurderer, SK-1, FFF (Jou proberly dont like its Hardcore rave stuf) Kid 606 (made a some Ragacore but also some nice IDM breaks).

Also listen to the folowing records. Invitro0009 and also Zero 71 number 8. Good stuf.

I know it's metal but it's thick and nasty like B-core, but listen to THE BERZERKER, and for a more punk math screamo grind style go for THE LOCUST, lots of nasty synths. Can't forget to mention D'ATACHI, weird new york IDM core. And wisp.....gotta have a listen to WISP.

I have to say I'm new to the scene basically, so a little bit o learning to do on this page as well. I really am into the more complex structure style than straight up blasts and distortion. But the doesn't mean I don't Love the Grind, terror, and Gore(word Up Passenger of Shit)
