who remembers when metal used to be AWESOME?

thrash/extreme/heavy/death metal bands like sepultura, slayer, carcass, napalm death, exodus, sodom, godflesh, pantera, d.r.i., suicidal tendencies, etc etc etc....it makes me such a sad panda knowing metal will never, ever be that good again. :(

That stuff wasn't that good.

I can't take new bands seriously anymore, especially the ones that are all 17 year olds dressed in classic bay area thrash style. Sometimes it seems to me like metal is pathetic for refusing to die with dignity and admit that it's over. Then I'll listen to Mithras or The Lord Weird Slough Feg to remember that it can still rule. The upper 1 percent can still justify the lower 99, though just barely.

Oh yeah...before I started making music, I made this:

Last time I updated it was in 2003; I don't even remember the login now, but it's still a fairly popular site. Number one search result on Google for "metal wallpaper".

I've been listening to this double live cd of Slayer and Sepultera's Chaos AD album. Lots of tracks were sample by Aaron Spectre on that album. I need to go back and get the old prong albums on cd. After listening to the Saw V soundtrack I forgot how much I loved them.

My friend and I once met Robert from Suicidal Tendancies at this random meat market top 40 dance club. It was back when he was the bass player for Ozzy on the Ozzfest. He was totally trashed and dancing...errr well pumping his fist to some euro dance hit. He would of gave us backstage passes but he had long gave em all away already...damn.

Wow, this is a pretty comprehensive collection! And it looks like you stopped updating when it didn't matter anymore anyway, haha! Thanks for the Mercyful Fate wallpaper :)

Youse guys're right though, current state of metal is very depressing. Too much meatheaded mosh music, not enough good olde rocking and thrashing... fist shaking headbanging sound 8) 8) 8)

Mushroomhead were a really great band at one point, the closest thing to metal I really listen to any more is The Altar Boys or some noise rock/Post Hardcore such as Boredoms, Jesus Lizard and Drive Like Jehu.
