THE FEZ! LIVE ON ILL FM FREE DOWNLOAD - new crazy live fx

Postby Fez » Mon Jun 29, 2009 3:10 pm

hey all

a few months ago i played a set on the legendary ill fm in London, uk.
I decided to try something a bit different and actually try and do as much of it live as possible.
pretty much most of the fx you hear on this mix are done live and not pre-programmed. I used a combination of vsts, ableton stuff and an air fx which uses crazy space age x-y-z technology which gives it a nice bendy feel and sounds less robotic than a basic on/off process (imagine turning the wet/dry up and down very quickly so the fx fade/blend in and out)

heres the mix, hope you enjoy!

quite near the beginning though, the table i was using collapsed so there is a brief 5 minutes of no music.

I'll give it a listen a bit later today. Crazyness about the table...but then again it ain't rock n roll if you don't break something.

I like doing all my effects live even on my tracks I record. It's pretty easy to do with ableton especially with version 7+ if you make your own effect racks and midi map or use the "magic blue hand".

yeah man, abletons great for that sorta thing.

cubase really is the tits for automation though, i've been messing about with strange automation parameter patterns, like drawing shapes and words and stuff.
can get some really mad unpredictable sounds and stuff.
putting beats through vsts and doing really light subtle automation sounds wicked too, gives it great moving textures, but alas its hard to incorporate this into hardcorey stuff, sounds better for acid type stuff.
