I used to play Team Fortress but i'm more Counterstrike Source now. Lately i've been playing Stalker (Which has nothing to do with stalking women for the curous individuals amongst you).

It's out tomorrow I think, well, Half Life 2 episode 2 is coming out but it's only being released in this package called the orange box, which contains team fortress 2, Portal, Half life 2 and both the expansion packs (episodes 1 and 2).

Yeah Stalker is one of my all time favourite films, Andrei is the man, both Stalker and Solyaris are killers. I'm currently downloading the rest of his filmography from demonoid.

The fact that both pieces of media concern a region of Eastern Europe/Russia called "the Zone" is entirely coincidental, the inclusion of freelancers known as "Stalkers" who risk life and limb to venture in to "The Zone" to collect artifacts has nothing to do with the novel 'Roadside Picnic' which happens to bare exactly the same plot premise. The film definitely wasn't based on the novel either, you're 100% correct.
PS
You're joking I assume?

And I quote: "Some terminology of the game ("The Zone", "Stalker") as well as the background idea is borrowed from the popular science fiction book Roadside Picnic by Boris and Arkady Strugatsky and the 1979 film Stalker, loosely based on the book."
Based on doesn't mean it has to be the same. Fucking awesome game, even with its problems. Just about to play it through again.

Well done Poirot, if the CIA haven't scooped up your unrivalled detective skills yet then they're missing out. The game blatantly isn't an exact mirror of the film by any means, but it is heavily influenced by the film despite baring more resemblance to the original novel, which i'm assuming you've never read. To claim that the game has nothing in common with the film is plain wrong, not only do the similarities stare you straight in the face but just about every source for the game on the internet mentions the influence and inspirations. Normally I ignore folk when they're bathing in ignorance, but this comment:
"Stalker movie by Tarkovskiy (sic) has nothing common with PC game Stalker... you dumb asses."
Warrents some much needed tuition.
Frog > Have you got the newest patch? I'm running 1.0004 but still there are some nasty bugs, including constant crashes around X16. I've currently just left duty and i'm heading north to switch off the brain scorcher, my suit is crap however.

In other news I noticed a few weeks ago that imdb has an entry for a roadside picnic film. It appears to be in its very early stages but if it follows the book closer than Stalker did then it's set to be a cracker (providing it's made well).
