The Breakforce One Album recommendation Thread

Postby BreakforceOne » Sat Aug 02, 2014 5:30 pm

So i just steal the livestet Idea, but instead of Live Sets, i will post my favourite Albums and talk a little bit about them. I will start with an album ive really got to love during the time i first listened to it, and that is Öxxö Xööx's Debut Album Rëvëürt.
Image

The Band only has 2 Members, from which 1 is, as far as i know "only" a female Background Singer, and the other Member, a guy named Laurent, does literally everything else. That alone makes this a interesting listen, if only the music wouldnt be so fucking awesome as it is. Öxxö Xööx, who are also part of French Breakcore Producer Igorrr's Live Show, make dark, complex Gothic Metal, fusing opera and theatrical Music into the mix, too. Lyrics are written in an own Language, that can be translated tho. Just listen to this, and if you have the least sense of music you will go on their bandcamp and buy the fucking album. NOW!

Candiria: The Process of Self Development

Postby Technicyst Fix » Mon Aug 04, 2014 10:25 pm

This isn't breakcore, but it's heavy and unique. This album changed my life. No one sounds like Candiria - fuse NY hardcore with jazz, odd time signatures, the sickest drumming, and an original vocalist, and you get this masterpiece. And through all of this, they never lose the groove element. Stick to early releases all the way up to 300 Percent Density and you're golden. Not to mention, they can reproduce the albums live without a hitch and with added furiosity.

One of my favorite tracks that truly shows off their seamless ability to genre-hop and their mathematical approach to songwriting:

Well, it actually sounds like a nother side project by Mike Patton or John Zorn - which is nothing bad! Sounds extremely interesting, will listen through it once ive got some time!

Haha! Thought someone might call me on that bold statement. Forgot about the Patton/Zorn stuff. HUGE Patton fan myself - Angel Dust from FNM is in my top 3 albums of all time, and you gotta love the tunes he's done with Zu, Kaada, and Dillinger to name a few. K...not going to hijack this into a Mike Patton worship thread. People keep posting albums :P

Next up is SWANS Album The Seer.

Okay. This one is a verrrrryyyyy loooooongggg Listen. Its about two hours. On 2 CD's. But its so god damn worth it. Experimental Rock, Drone and all that (maybe some Improv, i dont really know) fused into one goddamn good album (just as the follow up, To be Kind). Its Dark, Hypnotic, hard to listen to but musically on a level i very seldomly heard in my life before. Now, i may run into open doors with this one, considering that they are pretty well known, but one cant know everything, and thats the reason why i only discovered them recently. I give you the title Track, which is VERY long, but i reckon you take your headphones, close your eyes and listen to it. Ypu probly wont regret it!

Didn't want this thread to die, so here's another album I dig that might appeal to others. Quality heavy instrumental metal.

After an Month here is Release No 3:

Pig Destroyer - Natasha

Okay, this one isnt really an Album, and, as i said, this is another Metal Thing that is really long, its the 38 Minute Sludge Epic "Natasha". This shit is so fucking dope guys. Basically its a story about an guy who kills his girlfriend and is then haunted by her ghost or some shit like that, but what really makes this song so unique is that the story is not really told by the lyrics, but by the sound design. In the Ambient sections of this tune you can almost piece the story together by yourself, without listening to the lyrics, or just piece your own story, that works as well.
Riffs are memorable but not top notch or anything, so is the drumming, which is, SURPRISE, very slow and all that... yeah :D

I dont want to talk about this one TOO much so here:

I like this album by merzbow a lot. (and also his Maldoror album with Mike Patton, just to throw his name around a little more)

It is not breakcore.

It is noise.

I also like this album by Nosmo King, which is also not breakcore. Just for something much less intense :)
