My New favorite plugin would have to be, all of the shit that i got with my midi controller(vsti's)

Analogue factory and bass station, just love the shit out of them, the presets can keep you busy for weeks.

I have too many synths now though, tend to go from synth to synth and use presets, wich is a habbit i should really quit.

I still want to try bass station, I DL'd the demo but for some reason it didn't work. I heard a dub step track at a local ableton meet up. The two guys that did the track said they used bass station and had some nice choppy basslines I dug.

i suggest not using presets anymore, the best way to stray from that is to findout if your synth has an initial patch (a preset that has not been modified at all)

then once you do find your favorite preset and open up the same synth again in another channel and set the newly open synth to the initial patch and you can tweak the other synth by going back and forth and comparing it.

it's the best way to learn hw to sound design.

once you figure out what a synth can do you basically learn how to use all synths.

helps build skill, more knowledge about your own craft the better.

sound design is very important owards creating your own sound.

allot of producers are known for their own sound because they have perfected the craft of their own sound.

look at noisia.

for a long time they were on dnb forums trying to gain the knowledge of production skill, they did their home work and have mastered their craft to the point where fellow producers are scratching there heads and saying to themself "How the fuck did they go about making that bassline"

using presets is not gonna make you reach a distinct sound any time soon.

tweak them knobs nigga!

zta3+
DBglitch
Crystal (Although it's 'breed' function has a tendency for decimating eardrums if your not careful)
