Lots of USB ports(but that can be worked around with a USB hub). Lots of RAM, nice size hard drive, maybe firewire ports, also maybe the size of the laptop itself. I have a pretty big laptop, but thats cause I like the huge screen and didn't feel like squinting at a tiny screen.

Working with FL (and I'm sure any other DAW) on a 26" screen is the dream, tried it on a 50", not so much

250gb is pretty big... depends how many samples your gonna be downloading :D

if you need more you can always get an external hard drive for non-essential samples and stuff.

You can always buy an external USB one.

I bought a netbook for production, its pretty sweet, about £300 too. Not a powerhouse by any means, but it delivers.

I have a lenovo X200 and it rocks ass, size and power-wise... only complaint is that it's too low on graphics to play games...

for music, i think it's perfect as its small enough to fit into my bag but powerful enough to do just anything (apart from crysis :D )

At home I have a decent audio interface and nice monitors and that's all I need (apart from renoise, my guitar and vst)

Small computers rock (though not netbooks, they suck!)

No way man :o

My netbook runs Ableton with my midi controllers fine.

I can even play HL2 on it.

Well, OK then, each to his own...
How is writing on it (seriously!)?
Do you get used to the small keyboard?

I went with the MSI Wind u100, it has a nearly full size keyboard so its easy as hell, pretty much exactly like a normal keyboard.

Has anybody got any experience with using audio interfaces like the above for using guitar in tracks etc?

Will be using with Ableton & possibly Reason.

This is my setup at the moment:

Alesis Multi-Mix 8 Firewire

Novation X-Station 25

I'm running those through a Macbook Pro, using Reason 4, Milky Tracker, & Tracktion 3. It pretty much covers anything I want to do, whether it's with my band or just on my own. I'm still having trouble getting something on my own going though... I haven't really developed a solid method for creation yet.
