Blue Screen Of Death - Ableton

Right, basically my Laptops a bit fucked up at the moment, my dog caught on the wires and it's ripped my onboard soundcard out and a USB port, so I've got an external soundcard, but I keep having a problem, after a few minuets of opening Ableton 8 or 7 my PC blue screens and it comes up with 'USB AUDIO' and 'Page fault in non page area' or 'IRQL not less or equal'.
The laptop came with Vista, but I installed XP instead if that helps.
