Lately, whenever I go to start a track I can't make it past the intro. I've seriously got about 40 intros sitting on my hard drive going NO WHERE. I haven't finished a track in about 6 months and it's driving me nuts.
Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

yeah - start in the middle!
dunno what kinda sound you have so its hard to suggest. But I always make the tune/melody first with no drums etc, which I treat as the core of the track. Then just build around it.
or maybe just accept that you're suited to shorter length tracks, nothing wrong with that! I'd love to see an LP with forty 30-second tracks on it haha

WORD!
I tend to start with the first drop/riff and get a few layers of breaks and bass stuff sorted first. When that is done I work backwards and take it apart for the intro. I find when I have a bunch of samples, synths and sequences already set up its much easier to start actually writing the track. Pretty much what weyheyhey said!
I find if I try and start from the intro I forget what I wanted to do with the main bit of the track.

I'm sorta the same way, but opposite.
I'll start off with making the melody, then trying to work a song out around that. But, like you, I have soooo many that I've started, then never done anything with after.

I have exactly the same problem, only i mostly start with the most energetic part of the track and then build the rest to it.
So i have some cool patterns but no intros/songs etc, that sucks

well, in the beginning I forced myself to finish everything I started. it can be too easy to fall into a habit of abandoning 90% of your ideas. forcing yourself to finish stuff will improve your song construction and arrangements in the end..

maybe you are just not inspired, it's not about how you make yer song, it's about the motivation you have.
maybe you should try making another genre?
possibly a tune with no vox samples and just melodies and beats.
make some cat music dude =D
but if yer just feeling uninspired then just watch some movies or listen to some new music.
