Filter drums

Postby Tektonic Plates » Sun Nov 25, 2007 3:03 am

Ok i have a question.

I know how to make a really cool "gabber"kick drum but i really would like to make the kind of hard kickdrums that bounce all over the place.
I sounds like there is some kind of filter on it that gets twisted al the time.

Kind of hard to explain but i hope you know what i mean.

I have tried to use a filter in front of my distortion but it didn't sound like it at all. And also after my distortion i just don't get the result is like.

i guess you could do it with different samples but there must be a better way i think..

so i hope somebody can get me going!
Thanks!!

not exactly sure if i know what you mean, but i am thinking about the gabber kicks in the Winnipeg album? particularly the first track? try a bandpass 12 filter

Just use a EQ, and instead of boosting the lowest hz, take some that are a little higher. The lowest ones are the bass, and the ones that are a little higher are the ones which define the punch if i'm not mistaking.

Hope it helps
