over-sampled tunes??

Postby vlai44 » Tue Jul 15, 2008 10:16 pm

i've been listening to a bunch of different dj mixes here at work today and wondered, what songs and/or artists do you think have been over-sampled or remixed to death in breakcore? what vocal samples make you groan, "not again!!" also, i mean songs/vox sampled, not beats/breaks used to construct a new track.

for me, off the top of my head:
- war pigs
- video killed the radio star
- any lil jon track (no one can top vankmen's crunkcore!!)
- N.W.A.

what else?!

Lil John is so awful:

"YEAH YEAH YEAH"

I guess you could argue that breaks are oversampled, such as the Amen, but then it's a fucking intense break so I can't really complain.

i can complain. i really dont mind when other people use it but i never do (i'm sure i've used the snare without realizing it from a pack or something). a lot of people who over use it do so in a way that i dont notice so much, but if it ever runs through all the way in it's original form, or *chokechokechokechokechoke* loops itself, i will become upset and find something else to listen to. surprisingly no one ever samples any other winstons song, and nobody ever does a full remix of amen brother.

N.W.A. gets far too sampled - there's other rap groups out there!

Quite some movies, everything with Samuel L. Jackson, heh. But I still enjoy it.

haha. crunk is awesome. i agree with warpigs very much. its not just electronic music, tons of bands do covers too.

slayer riffs are a plenty too. but its ok!
