What I'm really interested in is how quantum bodies exist in many places simultaneously. If the most basic units that make up my body can do that, what if there was some way the whole could do it too? I've always thought that maybe that's what dreams are.

Ok, sidetracked a little bit. But what I meant to say is, how could anyone not be excited about this?!

They only exist in many places simultaneously because of average calculations. It's impossible to pinpoint small objects in space time so we create a crowd of average area and say, it's around there somewhere. I get what you mean though. If as Quantum mechanics suggests, everything is represented by waves and not particles/stationary entities, then we're on course for a fun few months ahead. Perhaps we'll unlock the secrets of the 9 dimensions, and perhaps we'll start being able to send people through them, to Xen, to battle the Nihlanth.
Shit, I really need to stop playing Half Life.

Particles have been collided many times before, there are numerous particle accelerators all over the planet. This only difference between this machine and those others, is that this one is massive, and can fire particles real fast over larger distances (99.99% of light speed I believe). Higg's Bosom is nearly in our grasp, this is do or don't for Quantum Mechanics. If it doesn't exist, a lot of people are going to have to put their thinking caps back on.

apparently these black holes are microscopic and instantly eradicated so no big deal? kind of a disappointment, such a huge machine creating such tiny vortexes (vorti?)

Corvallis Gazette-Times frontpage headline: European Physycists Pretty Sure Experiment Won't Destroy The Planet.

oh mah gawd, lulz left and right =)

Ah But A Microscopic Black Hole Could Quickly Gain Mass And Become A Large Black Hole.
I Really Don't Care About The End Of The World.
Hope It Happens In My Life Time.

Haha. No.

According to very well established theories such as relativity, the birth of a microscopic black hole in these conditions is impossible.

Even the speculative theories (the ones you're talking about) that suggest that a microscopic black hole could develop, predict that it would disintegrate immediately anyway.

I'm afraid the only way the planet will be destroyed is through war, not science.

Will you quit capitlising every word? It's annoying as fuck, mate.

the thing about quantum physics is that its mostly theory, untill it happens, then its like "oh my bad."

quantum physics can eat my dick. i have a name for such discussions, its called....... verbal masturbation.

Quantum physics is still able to explain a handful of things that other approaches cannot, which is why I actually hold my faith in it.

Well I was speaking in terms of if it did exist not if it could but oh well.
I guess I should quit capitalizing because if you can't tolerate it my repetitive capitalization must have been completely intolerable.
It was quite rude of me to annoy you.
I'm sincerely sorry.

Haha, i don't mind it, lol, whenever i'm asked the meaning of life, i'm like yo; i know this dude he capitalizes everything, and god is like sweet i don't even use punctuation, but he understands it so don't worry, you''lle go to heaven.(only if its full of babyrapers, no offence(god said))
