This is very important for the future of decent raves!

It has been brought to attention that the government wish to consider it a legal requirement in the new tax year to introduce laws insisting anyone applying or re-applying for an entertainment license must have a noise control device fitted to the venue. This will be the final NAIL for ALL entertainment in the UK as the level at which these devices CUT you off is dreadfully low and damaging.

It's already applied in France since 1998, 105 db is the maximum sound pressure accepted by the law . Every "Music space " must be equiped with a sound limiter witch can cut the general powersupply if the 105db limit is overpassed for a too long period .

As a musician, i am not against this kind of device , i am suffering from tinnitus and get itchy when the sound is too loud. I also use some ear plugs, and hate when i loose it in a party. I also apreciate when there is free gift of those things at the entrance of clubs, unfortunatly it's so rare. It would be a great things if there was some ear plugs distributors in those places , a bit the same as condom vending machines.

For free party/Raves , due it's the illegal status, go there at your own "ear" risk.

I have to fully agree with the azop corp,I think you all should think about it and realize,that is just for your good health...if you dont care about your ears and potentionally would like to lose your hearing you can sign....Im not into this...I would use ear plugs if I would go to any party....I really hate too loud music.....in higher decibels the music converts into noise and its unlistenable!!!

sorry, but no.

i make music, design and build soundsystems, and funnily enough go to parties. a crude all encompassing 105db limiter at mix position or wherever is just a stupid big brother fist in the face from the fun police.

to put it into perspective, my basshorns will produce 105db @1meter with only 1 watt of power, and this is not an unheard of efficiency.

distortion from harsh breakup modes in nasty sounding top cabs and over powered mid tops, especially in the vocal range, and deaf sound engineers has normally been the reason you get tinnitus. although granted sheer air pressure levels from bass can also modulate the ear drums, and cause damage.

most sound systems in decent clubs and at parties today can quite easily and happily produce around 140dB at 1m from the speakers. this is also quite possible with a clean and well set up sound system not to harm or cuase any short/long term tinnitus, its only idiots of engineers who cant hear/dont know what they are doing, or idiots in the crowd sticking thier heads in speakers, and then wondering why they hurt, who spoil it for everyone else, oh and idiot policy makers.

if it hurts then step back, or complain to management about the shit sound.

i like to feel and hear all the frequencies as loud as possible before discomfort, as do most, but a government limit on sound levels due to the stupid few takes the piss out of the rest.

p.s. i buy boxes of ear plugs and hand them out at our parties for those who wish, which would be a much more sensible approach to enforce.

I'm a little deaf in one ear from playing in a band standing next to the drummers hi hats during practices.
I've never really had any problems with speakers, I mean I 've been to parties with horrendously illegal sound systsems and no sound licensing like squat parties and just used my common sense really and not stood directly next to them.

I think the optional ear plugs would be a good idea, rather than spoiling it for most people.

sounds like a SHIT law to me... they already criminalize drugs, now they want to criminalize decibels? learn to use earplugs! some of us like to feel the sound. hope you guys can put this one to the curb.

This goes without sayin, but if there was a law against loud music when it's shit radio bollocks in an awful club, (you didn't wanna go, your friends talked you into it, now you're waiting for 20 minutes to get an overpriced drink and you can't hear shit cause they're blarin' Katy Perry) then it'd be fine. But for breakcore, dubstep, all of that, I like wakin up the next day not being able to hear a thing
