I Hate Breakcore

I realised today that Manchester is essentially without a night that plays any regular Hardcore or Breakcore. This kind of echos some of the sentiments from a previous thread. Dubstep is well and truly 'in' it seems. Don't get me wrong, it has its place, I've produced some dubstep myself, but am I the only one that can only stomach an hour or so of dubstep on a night out? I mean seriously, open the night with it by all means, but when it's getting towards midnight and everyone is pissed up, surely it's time to drop some fast 4 on the floor or devilish quere-breaks to get everyone dancing. There's only so much nodding on the spot I can do before I realise that this falsely advertised Breakcore night is in fact a cover for yet another Dubstep night.

Please tell me i'm not alone, I'm not sure how it is on the continent or over the pond (or in other places such as Burma and Tuva), but it seems as if the UK is being dominated by trendy Dubstep, to the point now that most Breakcore producers are allowing it to completely dominate their releases and live performances.

Perhaps i'm just a Gabber faglet, in fact i'm pretty confident that I am a Gabber faglet, I just feel as if Breakcore is becoming less varied if anything, and more refined (to the point where it's just Dubstep and not even remotely Breakcore).

The only dubstep/grime I like is the hardest stuff (Broken Note), the popular stuff bores me to tears. I don't mind breakcore artists making dubstep as long as they mix both. There is a load of "gabber" breakcore (and dnb) around at the moment, I can point you to some releases if you like.

The lack of nights is a problem generally for the UK but people are starting to put on a few nights so things are looking up.

i share your sentiments and observations. it's been that way for a while here. i'll stand there drinking beer and just yell at them. seriously, nodding and swaying is a really boring way to spend an entire night. fours to the floor, motherfuckerz

think they played a dubstep track at 'alt. night' at one my local cheese clubs, i was just like "argh, the floors shaking" which is not good when you have to be fucking wankered to enjoy yourself *throws up*

Hmmm......I only like DMDNs dubstep mixes. He is the only 1 thats mixing this stuf properly. The rest of the Dubstep DJs are boring to me.

Well, maybe i can't say about bc or dubstep parties, because Warsaw is bcore shithole and there is like one party in year (uhm, in other cities breakcore is still pretty popular and no dub parties, so uhm), but i can say about something else. Many native bcore producers are makin dubstep now(or dubstep and breakor. Mostly first one). This is shit. Actually i'm 'Gabber Faglet' too, but c'mon, it's shit as shit. Dubstep is kinda ok, but only breakcore is true Jesus

I've noticed its starting to dominate Mary Anne Hobbs show on Radio 1 in the UK....least last time I listened ..years ago.

Here we have no breakcore scene or nights...cept when I get to DJ it. But we DO have people playing dubstep, but its still some small club back room affairs. I've noticed some dnb DJ's here try and jump ship to dubstep...but then saw it wassn't flying to well here, so now they do "both" hahaha!

It's just now touching down in Cleveland. So I and a few others get to relive 06 all over again. They're not even into the newer, interesting, weirder stuff. You know, the stuff you can actually dance to.

Than, everyone sits around and pats each other on the back for "schooling" one another. It's hilarious.

Well said, i had my thoughts about dub step too, sounds too much likedjihad step, which is anti American.

dubstep is mostly supposed to be played to let people know the party's over. it's 4am, most everyone has left, and good ol' dubstep comes on to let you know to smoke a bowl and go home.
