I understood Frenchcore to mean stuff like Radium, Speed Freak and the Sickest Squad, I also thought that Hardtek was something quite different?
You found the best frenchcore video i ever found on the internet.
It's funny we agree about which one is the best but it is explainable.
Frenchcore is very limited in its diversity of building tracks. They almost sound the same.
Go to a standard french rave and you can easily get bored because of all the tracks sounding the same.
You have kick on each step, bass alternative to the kick, snare on 2nd and 4th step, 180 to 200 BPM, the breaks appear every 16 measures.
Add one synth line, voice samples and you're done.
If you're lucky, you'll get some acid loops and/or amen break.
Mat Weasel sounds great but pay attention to what he drops : he only triggers beginning of bars (frequently at double speed by holding the pad because he probably has set it up to trigger twice per step ; you can notice it also because he makes one or two mistakes in this vid) and drops simple effects on that. Efficient, but not quite impressive.

I think you might be right actually. I'm really liking Weasel Busters, Narkotek & Heretik System at the moment, I think they're hardtek.
Has anyone heard either of the Teknival mixes by speedfreak, androgyn network & nout?? - fuckin storming.

Yup, Teknival 1 & 2 mixes are pretty solid. Yet... Every Radium (or Androgyn Network) mix seems to be mostly the same. Still, good stuff.

Does it make me gay if I still prefer Dutch style? Don't get me wrong, some French and UK stye is fucking deadly, i'm just drawn to the minimalistic power of that open Dutch kick. I'm not a right-wing bonehead in trackies, honest.
