don't get sumthin cheap...
interfaces aren't gonna "work better with FL than ableton" or whatever ...
2 outputs so you can still use a hardware mixer is a good idea too

the NI Audio Kontrol 1 is indeed very nice, you also get a free plugin with it.
You can choose between massive, absynth 4, guitar rig, and some FM thing.
If you want something a bit cheaper you could also take a look at the Tascam US-122 L, but if you also want to use it for recording I advise you not to purchase this thing since the recording quality is rather poor.
Output and midi is fine though, and it's also very portable.
The demo macbook we have here for the ableton live set (in the store that I work) Uses a APC40 (macbook pro) and NI Audio Kontrol 1, so that whould practically mean that with a windows laptop, and those two machines you whould be able to put down a nice live set.
You can ofcourse always look for more.
Novation Launch pad is a good addition to add some launch buttons for non-loop samples, or just a regular midi 32 key midi keyboard.
If you only want to use software this should do, if you have any other external stuff you want to use you'll need more.
