cool live/stage/dj techniques to use?

Postby divtech » Sat Jun 19, 2010 5:29 pm

curious to see what kind of style you guys use when you play live and such,

for example, i will occasionally make some mash up clips of tracks i have and basically write next 30 second tracks/sound clips and mess with em when i play, or sometimes with ableton you can trigger all your clips at once then i turn off the volume of ones i dont want, makes for a really chaotic ridiculous sound

What I actually do is make the set the night or day before, press play, then play halo so it looks like I'm all intense and doing loads of stuff.

i use ableton live and i hook up a bunch of circuit bent instruments people seem to love that shit. i loop some obnoxious sounds made by my little farm thing. and through in some crazy loops i make the night before.
also i'm planning on making an old nintendo 64 controller or sega genesis controller into a midi controller that would fucking rad.

I walk on stage with a box covered by a blanket and place it on the mixing desk, then leave it there for a good 2 minuets, staring at it, getting the crowd worked up in to some suspense, then...I pull of the blanket revealing a box of apples! Which I then throw at the crowd REALLY hard so it hurts and leaves bruises.

what i WOULD like to do is setting up a dropbox and telling the crowd they can upload whatever they want with their shiny iphones and i'll use it in the set. interactive breakcore experience hell yeah!

not possible though...
