what is the appeal of breakcore?
why do we like it?
obviously because humans like rhythymic patterns, but what is it specifically, in your opinion, that makes breakcore more appealing as a genre than, say house? or since you probably like multiple genres, what is it about breakcore that makes you want to listen to breakcore at a certain moment?
i'm just stoned and trying to understand why i can't stop listening to this shit but all my roommates, girlfriend, etc. think dubstep is the fucking bomb and can listen to the same twostep beat for six minutes and be thouroughly entertained

Breakcore is Bricolage for me in it's rawest form. It's inaccessible, intricate, often subversive and in many ways it is the logical conclusion of electronic music. Breakcore is still developing in its varying different ways, but I don't think music can particularly reach any newer sonic extremes (short of the invention of new interactive technology, like some sort of Breakcore Total Recall or something).

Basically what djtheblade said. Besides, it's not repetitive and takes a lot of thought to understand the track fully, thus keeps us from getting bored to the point we hate the song. There are people that don't like to think when listening to music, and then there are people that like to overanalyze everthing about it. We are those that are very specific about every detail.

i like it 'cause to me, it's electronic punk. allegedly, completely freeform...
but then you get those assholes that ruin it by taking it appart and taking it too serious. i like the spastic style and randomness.
ps. if you wanna be a rockstar, maybe don't make bkor

Breakcore = everything.
everything = GOD.
To me Breakcore is a religious thing...everytime it tells a different story. A beast of beauty, grace and insanity

It gives you the freedom to explore whatever genre of music you want to, whilst completely glitching the shit out of it and subverting convetions. Its not anti-music like noise but it makes people dance like retards.

It can be anti-music at times. Another thing worth mentioning though is that it's a good excuse to sample and rip apart other music that I hate... Like breakcore

these are great answers
i especially like:
-breakcore as a logical result of other genres/electronic music in general
-breakcore as electronic punk
-breakcore not giving a shit if you like it
-breakcore as bricolage
-breakcore as having more depth of detail
i think the last aspect, the fact that the nature of breakcore invites rich, complex songs, is the main reason why i started liking it
not only that, but i strongly believe that when i developed my taste for breakcore i also developed a heightened ability to listen to music
like there isn't really a song that can go by too fast for me anymore, and i can follow an unresolved phrase or a series of them, in ways that i couldn't before
basically what i'm saying is i think breakcore requires more attention and effort on the part of the listener than any other contemporary genre, it's mentally stimulating rather than mind-numbing

I find that breakcore can help me concentrate in an odd way, like when I paint I like to not have my mind wander. If I'm listening to Winnipeg or something pretty chaotic then that takes all my thought and I can zone out very much in the present.
And pretty much what everyone else said.
Once I started listening to the more extreme varieties of music that was it. It was like a drug in that I had to keep looking for more and more extreme music to feel the same high again.
Having said that, I've had a few really good nights monging out to some dubstep in the clubs even though I don't find it particularly interesting to listen to at home.
Also drugs.
