Hi!

Postby Delusions of Grandeur » Wed Jul 06, 2011 10:06 pm

Hey there! I'm new here. I'm Delusions of Grandeur from the US, and I'm Psytrance, Dubstep, Breakcore, Gabber, (fuck it I play it all) DJ and aspiring producer. Been fooling around ableton live and hope to produce some breakcore and dark psytrance in the near future. Anyways it's great to find an online breakcore community as not many people know about it where I live :(

I feel your pain bro. In iceland NOBODY has heard anything beyond "pop", house, metal and rap. Fucking sucks, this shitty island has no other scenes and our only "good" (as in "people participate") scene is the metal scene, which i'm ashamed of participating in because of a shitty band called Endless Dark, a stupid ass deathcore band that's getting too much international publicity than they deserve, sadly.

The closest thing we have to "breakcore" is a weekly breakbeat night at a place thats 20+ and not deserving of being the only place playing break-whatever because it pretty much just plays basic techno, which i don't give a rats ass about.

tl;dr: breakcore is too underground and i need to get some breakcore bros

dude bjork is from iceland and she is one of the most diverse people in music, ive also seen hundreds of IDM people from iceland its not breakcore but some of it borders on it, and there is no such thing as too underground, thats kinda the point in breakcore that its not popular and doesnt get watered down and made weak by outside influences like record labels and the like, if breakcore was more popular i think it would become more uniform and there would be a "breakcore sound" i love that its so diverse and different and not that many people are into it

BJÖRK IS FROM ICELAND?! No shit. Just because she's "diverse" doesn't mean her music applies to anybody who's looking for breakcore, saying that is just straight up ridiculous. I've seen Björk live a few times, and guess what - it's nothing special - for somebody looking for breakcore.

By saying "nobody has heard anything beyond [...]" i was implying there is no fucking breakcore scene. No shows, no culture, and AFAIK there's less than 10 people on this island who have even heard the word "breakcore".

Also, i'm not going to believe that you've seen hundreds of icelandic IDM producers until you write up a list.

Just like any other genre ever to become recognized as an official "genre". But have you ever lived in a country with absolutely NO BREAKCORE?

firstyly you said no one listened to anything but pop house metal and rap and i completley proved u wrong by the fact that bjork is from iceland and she falls into none of those genres does she? secondly i come from scotland untill bout 3months ago there was absolutely no breakcore nights atall essepcialy in glasgow so yes i know exactly what its like coming from a country with no breakcore nights but didnt have to come online and winge about it, i went and travled to nights and found things and bothered to look online and in record shops, also i know for a fact that ars dada played in iceland and he makes breakcore as for a list of idm from iceland

You're taking my words a bit literally. Björk is not special, interesting or even that popular, for that matter, in Iceland. Not many people here like her music BECAUSE all the radio stations, "clubs", music video TV programs pretty much only play "mainstream" music, which in iceland is rap, metal and "techno" - or else i've been living under a rock.

secondly i come from scotland untill bout 3months ago there was absolutely no breakcore nights atall essepcialy in glasgow so yes i know exactly what its like coming from a country with no breakcore

Good for you.

but didnt have to come online and winge about it, i went and travled to nights and found things and bothered to look online and in record shops

I didn't come online to "winge" about it. I discovered breakcore on the internet and looked for forums related to breakcore so i could learn more about it, and discover more artists and music. We do not have alot of record shops that sell non-mainstream music, and i doubt i'll find any breakcore there because there is no scene for it here. Bold font implies my point. The only reason for me being a member on this rotting forum is that there aren't any clubs i can go to for breakcore or record shops i can hang out in browsing breakcore music.

Sigor Ross? Sigur Rós do not play music i'm interested in (and guess what, i've seen them live too and they were nothing special), and the rest, i've honestly never heard about, except for Gus Gus, which aren't close to being my cup of tea - electro-whatever.

Would you seriously call this IDM? Apart from the 15-second part at 2:20-2:35, that is.

Not many people know of breakcore/IDM's existence and therefore don't give a shit, and therefore just listen to whatever the shitty radio is playing or whatever "techno.is" is promoting, if they even are promoting any events in the first place.

I didn't mean to hijack this thread, sorry about that.

of course i took your words to mean what they said why would i not have? i never said anything about anyone being popular either i was mearly stating a point that, there is loadsa music out there and if you go and look for it online or anywhere you will find it, i stated the point i didnt have clubs either cos you asked if i knew what it was like and i do i wasnt really aiming the point directly at you im just stating a point that if you look hard enough ul find what your looking for, and yeah i do consider sigor ros to be IDM so do the vast majority of people who listen to them, anyway enough said, im not going to have an arguement with you on the internet its pathetic, keep on making your tracks and hopefully you could build up a breakcore scene in iceland around what you do

We're obviously on different wavelengths. I consider IDM as something produced on a computer, therefore i look at Sigur Rós as post-rock or even ambient or whatever. I don't care for them, too bad for me, right?

I like your tunes, though. I Feel Fine Honest is awesome!

thanx man digging your stuff too should put up more tho, would defo be up for hearing more

i dont really think IDM needs a computer to be made i just think it needs to be processed on a computer and sequencer, like squarepusher and the likes anyway now that we have offically hijacked this poor dudes first fourm post and probly sent him packing for good lol we should just leave it at that, better to keep the breakcore scence as small as it maybe togrther rather than bitching at each other online right?

ah now omega, theres always been stuff in scotland, loads of stuff going on there, well, far more than Iceland I'm sure...

Here's my tip: Get into drum and bass, its the closet thing to breakcore, its fun, its stupid, its fast, and bitches LOVE dnb! Oh and you can actually dance to it, rather than flail manically.

And there's ALWAYS a dnb night going on SOMEWHERE
just memes and donks these days
