guitar/bass in tunes (eg drumcorps)
Can any1 advise on how it is possible to do this? And what i would need? software/hardware? got a guitar/bass, its a start i spose but wana be able to incorporate this into sum breaks.
i reckon this:
get somthing like logic or cubase (if you havent already) and get a small mixing desk (the yamaha MW10 comes with cubase LE which is a free version and a few simple guitar vsts- all for around £150. its what i use and it works pretty ok)
if you want those guitars drumcorps tight, you will probally need ableton live for a bit of timestreching (unless your a really shit-hot guitar player). you can timestrech on cubase but ableton is much, much better fot the job.
bear in mind that drumcorps does some of his own guitars but he uses a lot of samples from well known bands i reckon it could be 50/50. but im not 100% sure on that.
anyways i hope that helps, good luck.

In the Notes on Breakcore Documentary he says its about 50/50 sampled/himself. However I have a feeling thats with regard to live performance, and in the studio its mostly sampled. I thought that was the point...most if not all the tracks were mashups of existing hardcore songs.. (e.g. "Saddest" is a supremely fucked up version of "The Saddest Day" by Converge...its weird listening to it after hearing the Drumcorps one first).
But I dunno I could be wrong.
If you mean really really basics, then all you need to do is:
guitar > distortion pedal etc > line in of your computer
or
guitar > distortion pedal etc > guitar amp > line out of guitar amp > line in of your computer
or if you want to use a mic:
guitar > distortion pedal etc > guitar amp > mic > computer.
sorry if you already knew that...I dont know how basic you meant...
I'd say use ableton to warp your guitar tracks so theyre uber-tight. Although its arguable that if your making breakcore you just should be using Ableton anyway
but thats a different discussion...
Dunno about MIDI syncing...from live videos I've seen he just plugs the guitar into his halfstack, independent of the laptop etc.

play your backing track, plug your guitar into something and star playing. run your guitar through a few effects on the pc if you like, but what's the point of quantizing/syncing your live guitar? You might as well just play prerecord stuff. It's just a gimmick otherwise innit....

From what i've seen of Aaron Spectre playing in videos and stuff, it seems that his live guitar playing is just for performance. I don't think he actually uses it a great deal in recording. Would be good to see a live breakcore/grindcore band though who sample and loop their guitars on the fly. Wouldn't be that difficult to do either. You can make yourself a loop pedal for cheap pretty easy with an old USB keyboard and abelton.

Indeed, he took the best part of the song and fucked it gorgeous. The originalis pretty okay as well, but I prefer the remix.
Killselectors Agoraphobic Breaks is bloody brilliant as well IMO, only too friggin' short! Check it out: http://ihatebreakcore.com/modules.php?n ... ck&tid=218

Many thanks dude
