Desert Island Discs

Postby Silent Frog » Wed Apr 23, 2008 7:35 pm

Which five albums would you want to take with you if you were going to be stranded on a desert island and why? I haven't actually chosen what I'd want yet but anyway, tell me.

According to the BBC Radio 4 rules, the desert island mysteriously comes equipped with the means for playing your records, regardless of format. you are also allowed one special item of your choice. Technically, one of the records is required to be a classical composition but we don't have to play that.

NIN - Ghosts I-IV
Because it's like all the good in NIN without the bad, and I love the good in NIN.

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 2
This album has been there for me.

Racmaninoff -3rd Piano Concerto
I could listen to this in a dump, knee deep in dead rats and feces, and feel as if everything around me were beautiful.

The Beatles - White Album
Mostly for tracks like "Yer Blues" and "Helter Skelter." I think this would qualify as the most punk rock selection of these five.

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
I don't know. I just think it's a great album.

Can I just take the 63 gigs in my iPod instead?
It takes up less space.

I don't want to go to a desert island anyway.

If i had to choose a classical piece i'd probably choose Alarm Will Sound Performs Aphex Twin.

Beatles - Abbey Road
Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy
Weezer - Pinkerton
White Zombie - Astrocreep

and

Dead Milkmen - Beezlebubba (so when I finally go insane from isolation I can put "Stuart" on permanent repeat...)

And then I would cry because I forgot to bring any Flaming Lips. :(

Damn, i was going to suggest taking a laptop or 5 burned cds with shit loads of mp3's... guess that means i'm excluded as well. Me and Thallium can go and start our own island and it'll be much better than yours!

NO! No one is allowed to start their own island! It's my island or no island. That's the rules!
