venetian snares has put loads of stuff out; check out 'detrimentalist', 'Rossz Csillag Alatt Születet', 'winnipeg is a frozen shithole' and 'doll doll doll' for a good taste.
xanopticon and dev/null for the intense idm side of breakcore
shitmat for the fun and funny stuff
drumcorps is pretty good if you like metal/grind
also check out: bong-ra, dr bastardo, rotator
and frog pocket, cos he's ace.

Compilations are always a good way to get started.
Drop Name Records vol 1-2 (Painfree Foundsound Institute)
Vomit! (Proboscus)
White Cock (Cock Rock Disco)
200 (Planet Mu)
Amµnition (Planet Mu)
Those are just a few. It's a really good way to get oriented. Still such a god damn shame about sublight. Eyelicker was an excellent comp.
Some labels give away free promo packs or maybe a track or release or two.
Lots of interesting netlabels out there to with some pretty good stuff for free. Just have to do a little digging.

What he said. Easily the best way to get into any genre.

I recommend jumpstyle, it makes you want to make music without 4xbeat, and makes you wanna kick another sub culture to death, or atleasy fuck with them and make them die of aids, slowly..
(like not fast, it can be fast though, as long as it is painfull.)
Just my two cents, and some more if you got cashflow problem.
