I need some advice...

Postby ElementalShock » Wed Aug 27, 2008 7:54 pm

Okay so... my friend does Breakcore stuff. He's pretty good at it. I'm wanted to try and make some of my own. What would I need to get started? I'm gonna download some stuff in the download section but, what do I need? There's a ton of stuff in there! lol

Anybody want to help me out? I'm really quite interested in starting.

Samples, a sequencer of some sort, & mostly the creative will. If you've got that, you'll find ways to do everything else you want to. =)

Yeah, it takes a lot of deliberate effort. I can tell you right now, if you're not into micro-editing, you're probably getting into the wrong style.

Although, not all breakcore is like that I guess...

Open ears. The best advice is to have a CLEAR idea of what you want to achieve. Mess with stuff, making Breakcore should never be a chore - take inspiration from anything, everything and even things you would normally hate. Personally, I like to watch movies that go hand in hand with the mood/style of track I'm working on. Just do what suits you.

here is my advise..

STOP..just fuckin STOP RIGHT NOW...

dont try to produce it..dont listen to it..dont even think about "this stuff"

the last thing the world needs is more breakcore..

in fact..braekcore will make you gay..if you are allready,it will infect your
pc,toaster and your pets with superaids...

better get off this site fast..never come back..ohh and kill your breakcore
producing friend..he just infected you with "this stuff" bevause he hope
it will go away if he spread breakcore over 10 more peoples mind..

and so on

I was wondering the same thing. I have GarageBand and a limited budget, where do I go from here?

breakcore requires patience, a sample editor and a sequencer. if you dont know what any of these things are then use wikipedia.

after you find that out, listen to other breakcore artists (you can listen to me if you want) and hear what they do with patience, sample editors and sequencers.

listen to a lot of other kinds of music as well, especially non-electronic improvised music, and see what it is about that music that makes it better than 99% of electronic music.

if you take my advice, you might actually make some music that i would like to hear. when you do, send me an email.
