track voting

Postby weyheyhey !! » Thu Sep 11, 2008 12:09 am

ok, i mentioned this before but can we please have an option to disable voting on tracks?

It's pissing me off, like, i'm not being an arrogant big-headed prick but some twat just voted my track 4/10. now, i'm all for opinions, but if you take the the time to vote it that poorly, the least you could say is why you thought it. especially when the other people voted 9 or 10. isn't that the point?

this has happened every time i've uploaded a track to this site so this is last time i'll do it. i'm not throwing a strop, i really don't give a fuck if you think my stuff sucks or whatever - just don't be such a fucking coward, it's repulsive.

Vote for your own track aha.. but be sure to be objective in your vote, if everyone receives a 1 or a 10, the ratings aren't very useful.

i like to vote a 1 from time to time, especially on tracks that have a high score......

not sure what your artist name is on here, but im probably guilty of it at least once. but if a track is obviously good, then w/e.

im voting a 1 on all your tracks from now on, because now i know it bugs you. :D

also i agree with getting rid of the voting but leaving the space to comment.

well that's just completely stupid man, and it's exactly the point im trying to make. you shouldn't vote to "correct" something that's too high or too low. You're supposed to be objective and give it the score you think it deserves, not try and undo other peoples' opinions.

i agree that some things can be scored too high but that's just the result of a small number of votes. if we had a hundred people voting per track then it would result in a more realistic average. But when you're talking 15 votes or less... it's useless.

DO AWAY WITH IT.

and my artist name on here is (was) "weyheyhey !!"

Damn.

I feel the love.

All in all, though i don't see it as a bad idea. You can disable d/l, why not have the option to disable voting?

Meh.

Heh, why're you being such a deliberately inflammatory dick about it?

I think we should make it so that the artists can't vote for their own tracks.
I'm tired of seeing a track with 10 avarage as the top track just because someone loves themselves.

Agreed, and totally agree with the option for disabling voting too, it should just be the choice of the people uploading the tracks, wheter they wan't it too be rated or not, seeing that some gay bastards can't seem to give a honest an meant vote
(rating the track alone, not i don't like him so i vote a 1 for him, very childish) :?

Hope JM can implement these options.

Maybe if tracks don't make it onto the list until they have 10 votes? That could fix the "instant 10"-problem.
But yeah, I still don't think that the uploader should get to vote.

you should have to listen to all the songs before you vote so you dont just choose which ones to listen to based on flashy titles

How about you can't submit a rating without leaving a comment?

Still allow comments freely, but restrict the rating system like that. I think that would work pretty well.

I hate it when people rate and don't leave comments, period. Whether it's good feedback or bad, I want to hear it...

yeah these are all good ideas, but here's the simplest one; have an option to just bloody turn it off!. Or perhaps... electrocute the user if they attempt to vote? Or strangle their pets. Or make them sit through 10 minutes of producer snafu tracks.

haha :)
