Not Quite Sure Exactly What Your Describing But As Far As "Slowed Down" I'd Recommend A Good Ol' Fashion Pitch Drop.

He uses ableton live and that effect is when a drum break is slowed down with the "per beats" setting. It's like a time stretching like sound. There are 4-5 settings for sound clips in ableton and that one is the default setting.

sounds like he does a lot time stretching via granular resynthesis and/or phase vocoding

ableton will do it, as rtificial mentioned, warping a clip in "beat" mode
that's a granular routine, as are the "tone" and "texture" modes

ableton's "complex" warping mode, to my ears, sounds like a phase vocoding routine, which IIRC stretches the sound using fourier analysis and breaks it down into many "bins" of sinusoidal frequencies (rather than repeating/stuttering blocks of samples in the loop the way a granular routine does) giving it what might sound like a "cleaner" stretch... or it might sound like shit, depending on the sample you're stretching

"complex" mode sometimes kills the punchiness of drum loops. so, if it's that pv sound you're going for, you might be better off processing the break somewhere else (ie. spear) and dropping it back into live.

as far as i know, renoise offers no easy way to time stretch a break while preserving it's pitch. but i'm sure it can be done with a little creativity and elbow grease.

hope this helps :!:

Yeah I Sample My Own Guitar Playing Or My Friends' Guitar Playing Occasionally.
I'd Recommend NOT Making Riffs For Breakcore. Make Some Like PV Or Grindcore Riffs And Then Slice Them Up And Reorder Them Over Breakcore. That's What I Do. Check Out My Stuff For Ideas?

Depending on what programs you are using. So I'm not sure either, but for breakdowns, personally I like to half the speed of my loops using ******* sound recorder and it's also extremely precise. And then saving the loop as a copy. Lesson no#1. Hahaha! Never save over the original. Then I add a pitch shift and a lil' reverb to the loop via my sequencer. Experiment. You might even find your own sound that will define you from other artists.

you can achieve the same effect ala soundmurder and others like rude and deadly did even before him by taking multisamples of a loop or drum and time stretching by spacing out intervals of the cuts of the sample in different frequencies and tempo.

Im not explaining it the greatest but perhaps someone here could illustrate it better.

I can remember doing stuff like this on a kurzweil sampler and akai's. I remember being able to quickly and easily mimic this in soundforge as well.
