Broken note and stuff of the like is pretty dope to.

Like one of those movies where dude steps out of a cadillac dawning a trench coat, than he whips out his sawed-off and starts droppin some shells!

in my town dubstep is still unknown, i've only heard extracts and my friends tell me its all bass... i think i need to hear more of it before i can really give a opinion. but then again, i'm a gabba head and usually the only one throwing myself around the floor when atari teenage riot come on

This has been happening for a while. Far too long to still be worried about it. Noone gave a fuck about it in the 90's now it's on TV and all over the Radio here in the UK it's perhaps a fad that isn't going to die as easy as I thought.

My first dark & heavy experience with dubstep was seeing Vex'd play in Berlin 2006. The set they played was the first of the night, progressive, dark and full of provocative elements to get pretty much the whole room moving in sync.
It worked well to open up a breakcore night with this style and seemed to make everything after it, progress smoother. However, it is now 2009 and the only hope for me, after Broken Note was Matt Green starting his Bass.Corrupt label with some absolute mental hardcore dubstep. Sadly he didn't deliver that and just went with the flow creating a standard darkstep vibe. BooHoo!

Dolphin made a decent dubstep track called Dubcore. Check that out. Apart from this and that.. Dubstep is defunct!

A girl i know wich is a really prisey trance girl, said hey we are going to a party soon, i said what they turning, she said, well dubstep, i never heard it though she said, so i turned on the first dubstep video on youtube for her, she said, damn is this dubstep, lol she hated it.(*)

Not really a point to this post, but just wanted to get off chest.

*The conversation of course took place in Dutch, i'm not going to speak English to people from my own country

i feel a bit wierd about dubstep, its nice music, as you say i played with broken note recently and they were very heavy and its the first time i really enjoyed it live.

the thing is people keep saying oh dubstep is killing breakcore but all the breakcore parties ive played recently has been dead or far less busy than previous. ( i played with devnull in bristol to about 15 people just befor e christmas)

i think alot of promoters have moved over to dubstep because no one is coming out to breakcore gigs anymore....

Hail everybody ! For me dubstep is a realy exellent music but clearly I can't stand one entire night with it !
Guy like Boxcutter, Vex'd, Ital Tek an Totaly Normal (also a incredible breakcore producer hehehe) are my favorite dubstep artist (with the king : Scorn).
In a party its cool to have one or two dubstep mix a the begining, after Drum & Bass/Jungle and Breakcore till the end of the night hehehehe !!!!

Yeah I think is pretty much the case, although whilst some people are saying that Breakcore is now "dead" and that it's time to "move on", I don't think that Breakcore was ever really alive in the strictest sense, and I don't feel compelled to "move on" just because other people have found something newer and cooler to latch on to. Keepin it real. I went to Open Plan last night (Dubstep night in Manchester) and actually had a real good time, nice powerful sound system, the bass was cracking. I personally wouldn't dedicate an entire night to Dubstep though.

i think everyones getting to whingey about this dubstep thing.

its called evolution. things just progress on and on, as you see. SO MANY breakcore artists who used to write full on jungle breaks and la la what not, they write dubstep now! its just change!!!

whats wrong ith you people? its ike anything else out there. dont like dubstep? dont listen to it.

ive hit the front end of this dilema myself, like cardopusher, ebola,... talk to these cats, luis and ben and really good friends honestly, and its all about where this SCENE is going in the end.

PERSONALLY, i get shafted when i play breakcore, and breakcore i written all over the flyer, and 20 people come to the show, and i leave with a hanful of euro coins., not that fun.

i wrote some dubstep for FUN. and when i showed it to some promoters. i got offered 300 eur + hotel, + girls, + beer to do a show in slovenia.

so its really how far you wanna sell yourself to make money with MOST people

it just so happens, i love t owrite dubstep, so to switch up and play 1 dub gig in a breakcore tour,... would technically, pay for the rest of my touring.

think about it.

its total shite. but there is NO money in breakcore, unless you have made iit TOP BIG, like VS.... because there is no money trickling down from them, to support other artists,..they either come out for snares, or they see raxyor on a flyer, and say forget it

Montreals underground is dominated by dubstep, with Forward Music pushing it weekly. The true underground pumps out some sick ghettotech and glitch, and thats as close as we get to a breakcore feel for the time being.
