some nice plugins cost only a few euros. just look at d16 from poland or ohmforce, their vst are really cool and affordable. you don't need waves vst to make better music

agreed and seconded rokhausen,

additionally where there is an open source alternative i try and use that,
i'm currently thinking about setting up a DAW completely from free / open source
software. it probably won't look as shiny as reason, FLstudio, et al. but it's audio
production i'm interested in anyway.
