serato? skratch live? final scratch?

I kinda like serato, but I've never used it. I just like how it works with a turntable with the special vinyl record. Also serato and ableton have a partnership now, so I'm looking forward to something cool coming out from them both in the future.

from what i understand, u can't go from a serato record (file from the computer) then a regular record, and then back again.

when that gets sorted, it will be complete.

unless you already have USD 1200 worth of equipment and want to spend USD 500 more. in that case, get serato.

I have Torq and, though I haven't used it in a long time, it works just fine for about 1/2 the price of Serato or Traktor Scratch. Found it to be really fun at first, but the novelty of playing any MP3 I could lay my hands on wore off after a while. Honestly, not knocking it, but it's just really easy to get over swamped with tunes and you never really get to know them. But it is very nice if you want to spin your own tunes or experiment with other genres that you might take just a passing interest in.

It has a soundcard/control box with a dial for each channel so that you just have to turn it to switch from MP3 to playing an actual record. If you want to record Audio from a set done in any of these programs via external control, you'll need another soundcard or an external recorder (just an FYI, as I found this to be extremely annoying.)

Definitely don't get Final Scratch because it's pretty much a dead program at this point.

Serato's probably the best. I unfortunately got Final Scratch before it was discontinued. You definitely don't want to get it, it's pretty buggy and worse overall.

But there's also http://www.mspinky.com/, which is supposed to be more modular and customizable and all that, if you care about that kind of stuff. Dunno about the quality otherwise, though.
