Wikipedia is kinda helpful on the issue of breaks but I do agree, that youtube vid is the shit. Well done for asking though. If more people straight out asked when they didn't know the answer the world would be a better place.

Maybe a breakcore FAQ is needed.

Didn't you say you were 14? That would make you negative 1 when you found out about the Amen Break.... fuckin sweet! I didn't really know about the Amen Break until a few months ago when I saw the YouTube vid (although I was aware that everyone seemed to be using the same snare/kick/cymbal samples)... My reaction was an odd mixture of disgust and fascination... "Thats really fucking cool" vs "That's really fucking lame, everyone using the same break" First I swore I'd never cop out and use it, but then I loaded it into my looper and holy shit! I saw very quickly why it's so prolific. Now I absolutely love it...
