THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA HAS BREAKCORE DEFICIENCY

Postby shmegma » Fri May 08, 2009 9:45 pm

Where is the breakcore in America? I need to find its little nodes and hidey holes because this shit makes me happy. Other forms of music do not make me so. Only breakcore. Yes I am maniacal. I am aware. That is the first step in the process. Where, I ask, WHERE?!, are the breakcore scenes in the good 'ol states?

It's strange, you have to make your own shows, but we've been trying to make a chicago bar/venue circuit for Breakcore

America blows. The only music in America that is worth checking out is everything on Swami records. San Diego baby, get on to that shit and check out The Night Marchers.

it does kinda suck but its inscentive to start your own shit and you can actually get to know personally the people in the scene

my city has an alright sized noise scene and little diy venues that pop up here and there for months at a time. I just get booked for shows and do noisy breakcore at those places.

Scenes are for scenesters. It took us 3 decades to understand, but emo finally made it clear to all by making such an example of itself.

Pittsburgh, L.A., New York, Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Denver and Seattle all seem to have things going on, based on events I see posted online. Maybe others here can verify this first hand. And in Wisconsin, Labor Day seems like it may become a tradition again.

Plenty of quality labels here, past and present, so don't let anyone tell you different.

minneapolis has some sympathizers.

www.myspace.com/thinktanktwincities.

or hit up overthruster......

www.myspace.com/0verthruster.

both are doing what they can. use of myspace is because we are broke and its free. /use of myspace drama.

****i should add that these 2 would help find parties or events going on. there are a lot of artists in minneapolis. me and a friend are doing the thinktank thing. trying to at LEAST have a venue for all the excluded/experimental artists to come and chill and play music. either from minnesota or just stopping through and want to freak out for a while.

overthruster does events. once a month it seems at least somewhere in the twin cities (minneapolis or st. paul) and books other lesser known talent to beat speakers up. def good people when i comes down to it, and has been helping us out as well.****

and if your in fargo. ask the artbreaker. he is the hidden ninja. don't sleep.

I saw a mention of that on a blog somewhere, but there was a post from Brett on the Addict site indicating otherwise. I really hope it's Wisconsin but I'm hardly in the loop, so who knows. lol
The real question is how do you top last year? Drumcorps? Fringeli? I:gor? TOA?
