firstly, =/= means "not equal to". this thread is about metal, not post-rock.

you should be asking yourself the same thing, especially with this comment you made earlier in the thread:

T_rak_T wrote:That stuff wasn't that good.
It's all about the experimental stuff.

fyi igor cavalera is/was one of the best drummers in the world & was voted as such for many years by the music industry & metal community, so yeah, "musicianship wise" AND what i like better.

what's your excuse?

Godspeed are far better musicians than traditional thrash.
They impose music theory in their works.
Don't see why that must be taken as a personal attack.
John Longstreth of Origin is a much better drummer than him.
Thrash is just what's in the hotseat.

thrash is in the hotseat? what year is this?? and if i may say, there's lots of classical influence in most old school thrash/death metal... morbid angel's "altars of madness" lp is nearly as much wagnerian opera as it is death metal... and just to be a jerk... i'd like to see godspeed write and perform an album like that! /end_jerk 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

It's hilarious.

gazmatic - I met your bass player at Bangface Weekender the pat few years, Sam right? Top fella.

Metal is indeed on its ass, tho I got back from Download fest the other day and had a pretty good time (lsd + Faith No More = win) but yeah id say it was dying on its arse.

Ive not really heard too many good bands of late but Animosity (who Spectre remixes on Altered Beast) are pretty sick for a "deathcore" band. Their 'Animal' album is great.
Newest Mastodon is pretty epic, its just a shame that live they played 1 song from Remission a few weeks ago

When done well, metal fuckin slays. The first The Haunted album is this.
