It's really cool. I was lucky to find it too, since Devi is no longer making them. There will be new versions of all the manglers soon from Dwarfcraft, though, and they look great. (Pics up at www.dwarfcraft.com)
I mainly got it to dirty up beats from my electribes, and it works great for that. I think it was designed with that purpose in mind, to be more of a hands-on kind of thing for beats and noise, rather than a typical guitar/bass stompbox, but it also has all the fuzz you could ever want to use that way. The joystick creates some really great tweaking sounds on the right settings. It can also be used as a standalone noise maker, without even plugging anything into it.
I also recently got a WMD Geiger Counter, which is just amazing. It's definitely the best bitcrusher ever made. The Bit Mangler is all analog, so it actually acts as more of a frequency crusher/amplifier/mangler, but the Geiger Counter is a digital/analog hybrid, that creates digital distortion from a chip full of different waveforms, before going into the analog distortion stage, so it can do a lot more and get really crazy. It's my favorite pedal, there's just nothing like it.
