i've been more into dubstep and jungle last couple of years, breakcore brought a lot of that back/up but what killed it for me was when it seemed like everyone was making gabba heavy metal a few years ago, i like that earbleed sound even less than pop idol

well ok, you know, maybe one tune to make people go 'woah!' but when you go to a party and it's just distortion all the time.....

same goes for a lot of the pop tunes. i mean it was funny back in 2004 to hear cheesy pop tunes at double speed, but it doesn't have much staying power lol

the good artists will still be making good tunes, and the internet will keep filling up with more and more unoriginal crap...

Technology is getting way too easy to use.
I just read an interview where venetian snares talks about when he started making music by carrying around a ghetto blaster and sampling random noises then put tracks together then played sounds off multiple blasters into one recording one too make his first music.

Sounds like the ideal way to start though I doubt anyone would head that far back to the basic with all the stuff we've got available today.

i remember when i was a kid you could buy an electric piano where the keys lit up so you could play really famous piano tunes

now you could argue that that is ruining the point of the piano since you don't even have to work out the scale it's like playing guitar hero with more buttons

but i bet most people who got that piano didn't learn many songs on it. and i bet the people who did learn the songs learned more

it's kind of sad how people now moan that there is too much music. when i first got into jungle i depended entirely on my brothers mate bringing tapes off the radio up from london. now i can hear something someone has just made an hour after they finish it

I just like music wich ticks my boxes. I can't really define it any better than this.

There is one inherent trouble in the amount of music out there now, sometimes I just seem to like too much and switch to dislike mode just to keep it managable.

I hope there will be a time where there is actually so much music people will pay for silence.

i did my first stuff by somehow tricking a tape deck into recording overdubs (don't even remember how that was possible) and overdubbing on the concertmate1 i used to have. of course it was crap and i was young and dumb, and didnt know how to bpms back then. i wish i still had that tape.

I'm basically replying to the original post here... I'm sorry if I repeat what's already been said but life is too short to spend loading up the 5 pages of replies (why is this site so damn slow?)

Anyways... the list of artists you gave all appear to belong to a certain group of breakcore artists whose production is very clinical and clean and favours intricately programmed drum patterns to chopped up amens. Like you, I prefer this style, but lets face it - it's been done to death too - even the artists you mentioned (whilst awesome) aren't exactly breaking new ground. It's all down to subjectivity and aesthetics. As soon as a type of music is given a name it becomes predictable. I think the problem here is that less of the type of breakcore you like personally is being made.

If you haven't already I would check out Weyheyhey! and Gareth Clarke. They would sit on your list of preferred artists quite comfortably. Don't loose the faith. You can still listen to punk rock too. Explore some other genres while you're at it.
