A new forum, ideas please
Ok so from some of the other threads I gather that a lot of you are a tad disgruntled, even going as far as to say that The Dubstep forum is better than this one, which is obviously a contradiction in terms and can never actually be the case, however I'll admit that some modifications are needed which just aren't going to be implemented with Merrick's seemingly indefinite hiatus.
What would you like to see in a new forum, in terms of structure, rules/masks, even colour schemes?
Serious(ish) suggestions only please (I appreciate that's like asking Jesus to masturbate on webcam, but you know).

In a way i thin this idea is kinda sad, that just because merrik wont show himself. This site has sooooo much potential, i just wish merrik would log on and give all admin rights to us. But on the other hand, this site will most likely rot and die a horrible slow painful death so im all for a new forum.

Not sure what you mean by key players, but people do post on this one, they just complain about the lack of moderation. I personally think it's just a little bit......bad.............that the mod turns up briefly, requests money from people then dissapears again. Are there no internet cafes down under? I shouldn't be so eager to comment too much on people's personal circumstances, but the website should be handed over to someone else, especially if you've reached the point that you're requesting the users to donate (pay) for it's inadequate/non-existent upkeep.

I agree that the Mod should be more dadicated to a website like this. There is a realistich posibility that this website wil disepear anyway As soon as its server costs stop being payde.
In many ways, Blade will be a much better new Mod. Also It would be awsome if there is a posibilithy, to post Self made breakcore/idm/hardcore movies on the front page, by making links to Youtube.

i think a new site would be great, so i'm gonna list a few things that i would like to see.
i agree with the front page having more "featured" things as picked by admins, that would be sweet, and also set us apart from other forums.
i would like to see actually less subforums. maybe have 3 or 4, one about production (heavily moderated), one about releases (less moderated) (major, indie and self released, no segregation needed), one for events (with subforums based off of region) and one for links/bullshit (virtually no moderation)
i would like to see soundcloud and youtube links embedded (like what dsf has)
something where you login and can see all the topics you've posted on, and whether there are any new posts.
automatic avatar resizing
more polls and contests, with a prominent place on the front page.
incorporate more genres than breakcore. maybe get the brosteppers off of dsf and onto our forum.
get more interviews and exclusive content with reputable artists
...oh yeah and the site shouldnt take FOREVER to load.
like ive always said, for me the main draw to this site was the contests. there is no other site on the web that has as creatively-themed contests that almost always produce excellent results. i think if we really focus on the strengths this site already has, we will be able to take the currently active users over to the new site and potentially steal some of the black sheep from other active music/production forums. i dont find much good music on this site anymore, i can actually find better stuff on DSF (even in the realm of breakcore) so lets try to be inclusive instead of exclusive. you can keep the rough breakcore edge that the userbase of this site has, but not keep people out by shunning fans of other music.
i'll post more ideas as i have them, but there are quite a bit for now. i would take on this project but im no web designer. i'd gladly help mod the new forum and stay an active user once its set up tho.

I'll get investigating this bad boy. My plate is absolutely rammed full at the moment but i'll still have a few slots here and there for some shiz!
T H A N K S djtheblade, you're the man!
maybe we don't even need a frontpage, almost everything can be done via forum threads and stickies! just like the contests on DSF.
i'd say a general discussion board for breakcore/other electronic music would be okay, then one for discussing releases, another one for posting your own releases (really gotta keep this separate from the other one, as this board would be the one with a thread/post-ratio of 1:1
), one for production and one for random bullshit.
oh, and for events of course.
apart from a postcount, do we really need ranks? X-time contest winner would be nice, but the whole e-peen thing is not really necessary...
would we really need anything else than a forum with boards on the site? most menu sections here are unused and eat up the server's speed.
looking forward to this!!

I never mentioned this, but I'm actually a "web designer" (although i'd prefer to think of myself as a flash programmer) but I could throw together some of these ideas and get a rough draft online, we'll just have to see how uneventful my weekend is...
just memes and donks these days

More forums the better man, def a better events page fo sho and I reckon just simplyfy everything.
Just my 2 cents
mixes - members , known artists
tracks - members only
events - calander perhaps?
production - all
labels - independant/major
random - bullshit
general - anything and everything
