all very good suggestions, except "get the brosteppers off dsf and onto here"
unless that was some kind of mega-sarcastic breakcore joke. not sure if it was or not but sounds like a terrible idea to me.
but yeah apart from that one, all good.
i disagree with the cynics that say theres not point or that it won't do anything. I think that even simply by having a forum that actually loads in a reasonable time and then doesn't take you 10 minutes to find the correct subforum will do a lot for getting people posting more regularly (perhaps more intelligently too? i dunno, that might be a bit much to ask..)

Ok what about names? What are we gonna call this thing? If I link it off my new record label's website it can't just serve as a forum for the said label, needs to be universally appealing as a general stand alone Breakcore forum. Kinda like the C8 forum minus the 'even less activity than ih8breakcore' issue.
What we also got to remember as that we shouldn't expect it to be as rammed as the Dubstep forum, regardless of opinions Dubstep is both popular and accessible and will naturally draw in far more punters than this Breakcore shite.

Also do we know when Ih8breakcore might expire? Has merrick payed yearly or 3-yearly or something perhaps? As he forwarded any info on to the admins?

Not that i know of, but fap said that the domain name was paid for for another 2 years or so, but i don't know anything about the hosting cost, i made like 30 euro donations a long while back, so lets hope the money did go to the hosting
I do remember JM saying that he bought bigger data traffic and shit once i dunno.
And if a new forum should arise it should be without 3 poster rule, i think 99% of the bullshit post/topics would be gone.
Also i really like the free discussions that can go on here, and not so strict rules.
Further more a large download section would be cool, where all members can contribute samples, maybe a chat thingy or something else would be cool too, and better artist pages, etc.

My advice; bin the download section. At least, the hosted ones. Hosting big 500MB sample packs is gonna absolutely fucking rinse the bandwidth allowance. Personally I don't think the site (or community) needs the attraction of free downloads.
Or at least host them elsewhere with a 3rd party file storage place like rapidshare etc.
But in general, I agree with the philosophy of 'less is more'. Less subforums, less areas of the site, less clutter on the screen.

ok,I read all these wonderful ideas that were expressed.
I agree in general with horseforce. However I don't get why we have to put up with everyone's dubstep tracks just because they also produce breakcore. There are dubstep forums for this reason. If the community would like a general "underground electronic music forum" we take it to another level and it's completely different and far more demanding. Still, sticking to breakcore leaves open a wide range of music just like it's uploaded here (noise/idm/dubstep/hardcore experiments -remember that apart from a genre, breakcore is a perception of music /mashy and smashy).
I believe the download section should be omitted and replaced with a forum section with links to samples, software etc. (No dl section=no silly 3-posters- simply a forum with links available to all)
As for the aesthetic, I would prefer a retro aesthetic or a simple forum one ( however I like the fact that this is a website and not a forum). Get rid of silly number of posts avatars and pokemons // and these 12 year- old-child fashioned logos. Also, less ads, better site. Thank you.
DO NOT link it with any label, dear sir. I respect marionette records for what it is, however I wouldn't like the idea that I am a member of a label's forum just because there is no other such forum.
What would boost the new forum up would be:
1) Better contest ideas, plus annual compilations with the contest winners
2) Better moderation of posts
3) Faster hosting and less technical problems with the website( sick of this goto page 2 taking me back to the website main page)
4) Reviews and interviews
5) Breakcore webradio????????????????????????
6) Event calendar definitely
