How many people out there think gabber is still going places? I absolutlley love it! been a raver for years! Im producing nowadays and want to stick with gabber but just wondering if i should move to other genres? any ideas very welcome!

there is still some really interesting gabber out there i think you just have to look abit harder to get past all the same old repitition thats out there and there are loadsa different styles too but i think for it to "go places" it has to mix alot more into the breakcore and hardcore scene and not just be for pill heads

Nostalgic mixes? I have one Deathchant mix on that page due, the rest is Hardtek, which isn't really struggling. So your argument on that front is irrelevant. And it may be an opinion, but your opinion's are SO boring now, because they're always negative and it's done in a fashion which say's 'I'm doing this to seem cool'.

I don't mind nostalgic mixes really, a lot of mine are old school Hardcore in nature, it doesn't necessarily reflect on my producing or anything. You gotta look back and take elements from the past so that you can be inspired to create new sounds. Besides loads of interesting stuff is happening with Hardcore at the moment, all the crossbreed definition stuff with Hidden/TOA and Donny, Counterstrike, Current Value etc is dead interesting I think, such that they've got me ripping em off at the mo with cheap imitations. Oh yeah that's just how I roll.

my negative look on gabber is just based from my experience as a party go'r. i have seen from with in the scene. if you go to a rave here in SoCal, you rarely see a hardcore headliner play a massive, not that it matters if yer playing raves or not. but i have been through the process of hardcore having a huge stage to itself to just a small room with poor lighting
my roots began in Gabber, i started out going to raves and speaker humping and all that jazz, then i got into speedcore because the harder the better, and back then i thought that the louder and faster it was the better. fucking teenage angst.

then it just progressed as i got older with breakcore and drum and bass and idm and dubstep.
most hardcore tracks to me seem fucking monotonous. same formula

synths, claps, some kind of chant or "i'm gonna kick your ass tone" or something about hardcore" melody build up, gabber kicks, and repeat.

some of the melodies i have heard just seem like cracked out versions of other anthems that were cracked out versions of other anthems.

each scene varies and there is definitely a scene here in LA. i just don't really care to "Hear the same thing over and over" i can't even listen to music for 2 hours strait.
contrary to what i have said yeah, i am pretty sure there is some bad ass hardcore out there, but hardcore doesn't really get that much hype and evolve like other genres have. i can't tell the difference from hardcore that was made in 2005 to now. with other scenes like drum and bass, electro, dubstep, house, and breakcore you get all those genres feeding off eachother and picking and using elements so it's constantly evolving into new fads. i don't really see that happening much with hardcore.

i know my opinion is not relevant in Europe by any means. different strokes for different folks.

so in conclusion my take on this topic is and always will be "just make what you want and just have fun"
