After this thread kicked off I spotted him complaining about is on his Facebook updates. He said he couldn't understand why all these Breakcore "knuckleheads" hated him now, and how glad he is that he isn't involved in the scene any more. As soon as you post an updated somebody who knows him will probably run off and tell him what you've said, regardless of how minor it is.

Any way, he's left us with a diatribe of stuff to write about, some of it genuinly interesting (particularly his reference to the terms and when they started coming in to use) and some of it very polarising indeed.

He's actually quite a nice bloke, he's Breakcore's best dressed man, which is why Owen doesn't like him.

He's a lovely fellow, who looks like a melted down Trent Reznor.
His lectures on capitalism, consumerism and it's evil's are extremely interesting aswell, I like how he's doing them via a Mac, whilst constantly drinking Red Bull with an Ipod touch on his desk.

He's a very sexy man.

Crazy!
I just went through the whole thing. I always wanted to know where the original Breakcore came from and what was going on then. This sounds pretty valid! What happened from the beginning of 1992 to the end of 1993 is a mystery to me but there sure was some insane development of electronic music going on then.

Here in the States there was a mix of things hitting us at once. From my own personal experience I found out about ATR Aphex and Squarepusher at the same time. As stupid as it seems, they were all on MTV at the same time. You couldn't really listen to music online yet and the vinyl shops in the Detroit area pretty much just carried Techno and House records. So it makes sense that American Breakcore would sound like a mix of Braindance and Digital Hardcore. When you think of artist like Abelcain and Doormouse who were the first ones doing it here this makes sense.

They didn't use Labtops. They used Amiga computers.

"If one does breakcore with a laptop, it's not breakcore...it's somebody faking breakcore."

Lol, I wonder if he'd be able to magically detect that it's fake breakcore if I were to produce an exceptional, DHR-style record using a laptop.
