whats your set up with live/dj sets?
Ableton plus a nocturn - i use it in a slightly diffrent way to most - using a cross fader to switch between an fx send track on the master and clean master output - it means i can sample chunks of my tunes whilst playing remanipulate them and cross fade into um... make sense?
Is there anything in particular about either your music or your performance that you would like to improve/change?
im always looking out for new sounds/production techniques - so im constantly looking for general improvement in my production. I wish i could DJ like a turntabalist - so that would be one thing i would change, but i havnt found the time to learn.
what is your opinion on free music download vs purchase and how does that affect what you end up giving away and what you sell?
I love putting out vinyl - but with the way record sales our these days it takes too long to get tracks out there - ive got a split with DDD coming out on Pacemaker but its been in the works for about 3 years so when the record eventually lands the tunes will be 4 years old - So this leads me to why i put out free music - its very quick and easy. but the whole thing is a vicious cycle.
what is your opinion on the breakcore scene in general; the people the attitudes, the music, and what would you like to see changed about it?
Breakcore scene - What scene? The only thing i would want to see change is that every one brought a record deck and started to buy vinyl - so we could all support each other in that way. we.ve lost so many good record labels recently it sucks!
what advice would you give to any other aspiring musicians in the breakcore scene as well as others alike?
Find your own way - it takes time, but do it your way and dont care what anyone else thinks or says. just make sure its got heart, soul and energy in it.... if it was as simple as chucking a load of distortion on 240 bpm breaks im sure there would be more people writing this music successfully. Also dont use plug ins to mash up beats - do it your self, it will feel way more intentional.
lastly, is there any chance that the tracks released exclusively on the pink vinyl will be available in any digital form, I don't have a turntable but would at the very least be interested in hearing the rest of your work on your most recent music Very Happy
Not sure - but go buy a second hand record deck and buy a copy
also I hadn't gotten to thank you for being part of the marionette split with me, so thanks! I'm a big admirer of your work, keep it up!
No worries man - I think you out done me on that split. great tune.
Which one of your own songs are yer favorite and if you could choose to remix any song on earth...which one?
Currently Hotdog off the second part of pink is my favorite - good fun to mash up live, and the kick is a beast.
remix any tune - damn good question! errrm. there is diffrent reasons to remix a tune i guess, one you think you can destroy, one you think you can better, one you can give a diffrent take, i wouldnt really like to remix some of my favorite tunes as there pretty perfect in my mind and id worried about fucking them up not in a good way... Soooo i guess id like to get the stems for some Daft Punk that would be pretty rad.
What do you like on a sandwich?
King prawn and smoked salmon.
As 1 of the bigest know'n names of the Breakcore world, I wanted to ask. Can jou make a living of joure DJ,ing and seling records?
nope not any more - never ever made any money of records - and gigs are few and far between these days. but thats kinda the way i like it, i have job that i enjoy alot.
Sorry if some of these are brief i gotta Haircut aponitment i gotta be at because im pretty pompous.

I sincerely hope so, I for one would love to see this, and possibly record it too.

After you asked me, and i said yes - i came across some of your posts on forums and realised you seemed like a bit of a douch - and your question above proves my point.
i'll have you know i'm not a douche at all, when in fact i'm a very nice guy indeed, which i can't say about you because from another producer i was told that yer pretty pompous and full of yourself which i assure you is more douchey to be so in real life then to be so online.
so if you ever make a song about you being a dick, be sure to let me Remix it, for i am pretty confident that i can make it Nice =)
Nah he's a nice guy, I talked to him after a show.

Wayne is nice, I phoned him once and he was opening a bottle of wine for dinner, and his punk night in London is named after a Hot Snakes song. Wayne is a real man's man, but Snafu likes fine Mexican cuisine which is commendable for sure as i'm currently binging on chilli non carne this week. Let's not fight on here though, let's save that for the Octagon this Saturday, as Lyoto Machida and Rampage Jackson prepare to go head on in fight of the year!

'would you let me put your balls in my mouth and hum 'silent night'?'
i think that might send me to sleep - what about jingle bells?

I actually got my first breakcore set thanks to you (you cancelled in cork and they asked me to replace you), so yeah thanks...
here's my question, do you think you'll be breakcore 2 fuck forever, or do you think you'll go back to the metals or "band" music, in a similar fashion to the way all these breakcore fiends are makin dubstep now? I mean ya realistically I know everyone gets bored of shit after a while, but what do you think?
and one more thing, Oasis, or Blur?

beside the usual bullshit, id say this thread has been a success.
i was just wondering a few kinda abstract artistic things:
when youre making tunes, do you "see" the music in any specific sort of way or experience in more than just a auditory way?
what inspires you to make music? where does your brain go when youre making a tune?
when you listen to/look at drums or any samples, what are key things you look for (either in the frequency spectrum or in the waveforms)?
sorry, these questions are kinda weird, but i always like to ask the questions i would personally have the most fun answering
oh and you mentioned you have a day job, what do you do?
