Ihatebreakcore= Sunken ship

Postby Draegg » Tue Feb 01, 2011 9:52 pm

Jesus fucking christ. Im so fucking tired of the fucking abuse this site has gotten through. The first bad omen was that the contests stopped and the next logical step was that all the regulars more or less stopped posting. What the fuck Merrik, take care of your shit and get back here and fix THIS shit! Am i the only fucktard on here that gives a shit? And what the fuck is up with the breakcore zine? The thread became a friggin discussion about which country has the cheapest rent and died...(like every other interesting, creative idea on this community) This site is DEAD. There´s alot of people here who has been trying to rescue this sinking ship, im not counting myself, sure i tried with the producer q&a but i dont know if it even were appreciated? I dont know about you guys but this site is a/the only good outlet for breakcore appreciaters to discuss and share music! Sure there are other forums but none as good as this site once was. i KNOW im ranting but it feels like nobody gives a shit anymore. Epecially not Merrik. //Rant over.

i know ive not been here that long but it has changed alot since i first found the site ive been trying to post up as much as i can but when all the posts are "hi im new" and "how can i be Vsnares" there aint that much creativity you can put in, the producers Q&A were a great step in the right direction and every couple of weeks something really intresting comes up eg. Lyttons posts and Rob Inhumans too they normally post some really good new music and creative points of view so i dont think the site is dead but it does need a good kick up the ass

Well, we've had the whole John Merrick discussion before, with ideas about replacement forums and zines being batted around. Nobody is interested. I try and actively progress or at least involve others in today's Breakcore/Hardcore but it seems that my reward for pestering decent artists to give up decent tunes for free is two replies on a fucking forum thread.

It seems that hundreds of pounds and man-hours in organising, designing and managing label activities (as well as hundreds more hours of James Eraserhead's time) culminates in less forum thread activity than some 3-posting Dutch asshole's thread regarding "lol wot is the best style gabba frenchcore lolcore".

I mean come on, I aint blowing my own trumpet here but I will blow the trumpet of the artists we've been working with lately, and I'll tell you what the Marionette xmas comp and the new Raston Warrior comp are better FREE net-releases than any other crock of shit floating around at the moment, save some of the cock rock freebies perhaps. This community is supposed to be full of people who profess to live, drink, sleep and shit Breakcore yet nobody seems to really involve themselves or support it at all. Again I find myself asking the same question that many who came before me have asked themselves; Why do I even do this shit? Maybe i'll do a bloody fist and just pack it all in.

But yeah, it seems this forum is the sum-total of modern Breackore; moronic shock humour, lame internet memes and 3-posters.

dude that would suck, there are alot of good e.p's/albums around for free on the breakcore gabber scene its just not many people bother to put in time on fourms like this (present company excluded) and not many "artists really give a fuck about other producers stuff, there are people i know in glasgow who do eat breath and shit music not breakcore really but hardcore is alive and well north of the border!

the problem is a complex one and it is self-perpetuating (less interesting material talked about->less people interested in contributing->less interesting material talked about)

the problem may not even be with this site in itself (although it is quite sad)
If this site is as some have said to be one of the only places people go on the internet to discuss breakcore, it is at least a possibility to say that not much is going on on an international web-based level

what more does the breakcore world have to offer anymore to the die hard fans other than the music it allows itself occasional time to make? Im sure theres quite a bit but it doesnt seem that many people are choosing to contribute this as of late. In addition, the members of the site that have spent a lot of time on the site probably have already donated most of the info theyre willing to donate up to this point and i think frankly theyre sick of the faq-type occasion questions that do arise.

i'm not sure what point i'm really trying to prove here but all else aside, i just want to let anyone else who cares know that i still care.

I still care, I enjoyed the producer Q&A's man, but being a wastrel high school student in some shitty rural BC town there is very little I can do to support the breakcore scene. I can't pay anybody, I can hardly afford to go out on weekends. I don't hear of shows going on here, and even if I did I would have to bus to the city to see them.
At the same time, maybe we are expecting too much. It is not like breakcore is ever going to be widely popular, even when people I know like a breakcore track I show them they are not going to give enough of a shit to spend their time on forums or check out soundclouds or websites or download shit.
Honestly I am not sure I want breakcore to have a scene like DnB or Hardcore, the reason I like breakcore is that it does away with the bloated excess of those scenes. To me breakcore is more a collection of chums, because I have yet to interact with someone who makes breakcore who was not a cool, interesting person.
I am also not sure I have a real point here, I just think that this feeling of disappointment in the breakcore community is disappointing because I am really just here to make some friends.

just you wait til the new love love site is finally online.....
;)
its going to be a discordian pyschonautical hell ride of an extravaganza i tell thee!'

i know what you mean about all this though, over the years at times i've been disheartened immensly....
but at the same time, i kinda like the fact the 'breakcore fad' is over.......
there are still pockets of die hard fans about and the people that are still around are really passionate about it having a great time.

The truth is, 9 out of 10 ravers, party goers, whatever you call them just want to get off their napper and dance easily at nights. Breakcore i guess alienated a lot of people at nights who didnt really get it, so it was only a matter of time before the breakcore buzz would come down....

im not really bothered though, im not going to stop listening to/making/promoting this sort of music and theres still many moments to be had. theres some amazing music being made lately; new duranx3, shitmat, beatwife, eustachian and ronin albums to name a few....all these releases i thought were better than anything previous theyd done.

i hope this site doesnt die, i dont really post very much on here anymore but im an active lurker.

Owen, i dont think you should care as much about things with your label, you know your doing a good job and that there are people are getting a lot out of what your doing.

I'm stille there too hehehe. I don't post so offtenly than past years but I come here everyday to see what's new. And in fact like a lot of people said there is nothing new on there ...
I'm a bit disapointed that, like mr the blade say, when somebody post a new interresting track or comp or wathever, he only get two or three post of feedback.

But i'm still there and I hope be there for a long time to support people who will post some interresting new stuff !

oh yeah i forgot to thank owen for the work he's been putting into the online breakcore/hardcore scene, also wanted to say that the producer q&a was great, every time i read something like that i learn something new and that circulation of ideas helps keep the music alive

i've been reading this site since 2008 i think and i've learned alot from you guys. Dont post much but i've been a daily visitor and would be a shame if it just died this way. Just when i decided i would bring in some more input from myself the spammers went berzerk. Sometimes would start a thread about something but quickly died off. Pity but i still love breakcore :D something good will come, i just know it :)

I know the 3 poster plague is a real detriment to the post quality on here, but In theory, every single one of them is posting pure garbage in order to gain access to the downloads right? Is every 3poster part of a broader, less active and chatty bcore scene? perhaps bcore isn't as dead as it seems, it's just more anti-social.

And yeah, I like this place, left for a while, came back. So it's slow, there is always a need for some sort of online gathering for artists, and this is as good as any I suppose.
