Me and alot of people I know are sick to death of being shat on by the man incharge. Peaceful protesting or even violence doesn't seem to make the slightest bit of difference.

So a friend of mine came up with this idea.

I'm with you on this, nothing works. I just end up venting my extreme disappointment/annoyance into some tracks or a mix or whatever.

nicely nicely! We're slowly gaining support for this cause, we just need about 30,000,000 more people to make this at all affective, then we're laughing! :D

if you all did nothing as a political protest, would anyone actually notice the difference?

the government would eventually if they weren't getting any taxes for anything... it would require the whole country to do it together though...

If enough people were up for the violence it would totally work, but we had almost half a million march on london the other weekend, and almost none of them were up for it. half a million people verses 4,200 police should have been an overthrown government right there and Buckingham palace burnt to the ground!

Most people want to protest peacefully not attack private property and police. Were we to live in a country with a government as corrupt as ours but WITH a complete suporession of individual freedom then i'm sure the populus would be willing to get mad, as it is we enjoy a certain degree of liberty and as such the protests are going to stay focussed on peaceful and constructive protest, with a clear political and social agenda. Most the trouble makers are:

A) Not well informed enough in the way of politics and economics to be in a position of power, and

B) Students and/or unemployed, and don't have to worry about being seen on tv and lose their job as a result

its not gonna happen, and if it did you would most likely end up with something really really shit. your idea of what the best way forward is probably isnt the same as the other millions of people you think would be on your side.

go and volunteer in a soup kitchen if you want to make a positive impact

i'm quite aware that chances are almost nobody else will go for it, but it's an idea we had that anyone could join in to with literally no effort at all, so we're putting it out there. If you think you have a good idea you might aswell go for it and see what happens.

Progressive democratic change through parliamentary politics, beats the shit out of an undemocratic coup put it that way. In principle strike action is peaceful and positive and thus commendable, which is basically what the "don't go to work" day that you're proposing is, but on a grand scale. ~The conservative party has too much grass roots support for this plan to succeed though, it wouldn't work unfortunately. If the British print media wasn't quite so dominated by the center right then the public would have the oppportunity to access more balanced dialogue, but as it is they're fed the "we're all in it together" rhetoric bullshit from the government via their favourite newspapers and they believe it, which you can't exactly fault them for.

i know what you mean, watching the bbc news coverage of various stories recently makes me sick, like their coverage of the protest... the most bias bit of journalism i've ever seen!

In the several hours of it i watched throughout the day they never once discussed, or even so much as mentioned the actual point behind the march!

Then they go on for the next few days about how the violence threatened to overshadow the main event... but how would it overshadow the main event if the news didn't go out of their way to mention it over and over again? while not even properly covering the main event...

It's fucking mind blowing!
