Right wingers love to whinge about how there is a collapse in moral values yadda yadda yadda, as if moral values can be somehow directly bestowed upon the most run-down and decrepid housing estates. If we wipe out poverty and educate everyone then this sort of shit won't happen, none of the middle and upper class kids were caught up in this riot. Imho, a class based analysis is the only valid one here, as is the case with all societal analysis.

Indirectly this could be political, i.e social conditions create the unrest, but as for conscious motivations there was no political statements here really, just gangs of young louts looting for free stuff. Again, destroy the poverty and you destroy the root cause of this behaviour.

True, what you said is more like the point I was trying to get across instead of what I said lol.

thats one of the most sensible things i have read about this whole situation, ive been staying quiet on this whole thing because i am in 2minds about it, the original reason imho behind the 1st protest not the riot was justified it was sparked YET AGAIN by brittish police who used more than excessive force when dealing with a minority, how the fuck do they justify shooting somebody twice in the face, the armed wing of the police in the UK are trained sharpshooters(and often ex-army) they easily could have shoot the dude in the sholder or something and disarmed him. I in NO WAY agree with looting and rioting but i think that something must be done in the UK to show the goverment and the police that it is us the citizens who vote for and pay their wages that should have the final say in things, how long can it continue that they just ignore problems and bend and minipulate laws that are meant to protect the people, im not screaming for a violent uprising but the whole system seems backwards 2 me and if it takes some idiotic youngsters looting rioting and destroying their city to get something done about it then so be it, i agree that these rioters should be charged and sentanced its the follow up to these riots that scare me, over the past few years in the UK the more protests we have, the less cival rights seem 2 be upheld

I think you missed the part that the actual football hooligans defended their streets against the (...) looting and fucking the place up. I don't know how the situation is no in England, so if anyone can update me :)
