Do it! Bristol is THE best city in the UK by far. Not just for the music but also the culture, the people, the drugs, whatever else you might want from life. Anything you need to know about the Bristol music scene can be found here at Hijack Bristol: http://www.hijackbristol.co.uk/board/index.php
Breakcore-wise, Death$ucker is based there and Parasite is very active in and around Bristol putting on nights. Teknoist also lives nearby, as does Gusset and others. A man named Punksi is pretty big on the promoting scene (though he's moved out of breakcore somewhat) and helps book acts for the Overkill stage at Glade. For an example of the nights you might expect, Plummet put on a good one over christmas http://www.hijackbristol.co.uk/board/in ... 064.0.html as did Parasite and the boys at the Goatlab http://dswat.streamlinetrial.co.uk/thegoatlab/ and coming up we have a fundraiser for the Zapatistas in Mexico attracting the guys from Life4Land down to do some sets http://www.hijackbristol.co.uk/board/in ... 077.0.html and the Drum Disciples Gabba night with Hellfish & Bryan Fury as well as Dolphin & Teknoist http://www.hijackbristol.co.uk/board/in ... 976.0.html
If you like playing live then the Laptop Battle competition started in Bristol and has been running for a number of years now and has recently gone national http://www.laptopbattleuk.com/
If you want to put on nights then there are plenty of places to do so, all very friendly and cheap and there's loads of nights that will give you a set if you ask nicely. Best thing about Bristol though is the sheer amount of music. You'll probably go there for the breakcore and by the time you leave want to go to a different club every single night, despite having only just got home from the last one 7am that morning. It is quite pricey and the city is FULL of rah Bristol Uni students who would be riding daddy's pony down the road had they not sold it for coke but other than that, do it!
