I just got this after a major postage delay and laziness.

First impressions are far from good though. I just don't like the way it sounds. I guess it's just snares breaking more conventions but when you start a record with a beautiful big choral build up, it may be cliche but fuck that shit up within the second track. To me, almost all of it seemed like a big anticlimax....

His name is Snares right? Throw us a fucking breakbeat.

but the 2nd track has beats doesn't it? I love hopeless pursuit, fucking awesome. The album is a bit of a grower, give it a chance. works best listening to it all from start to finish i think.

I prefer this to Rossz. The fact there are only 4/5 tracks with beats makes it more powerful, Rossz lost impact after 5 tracks, imo of course!

it has much more of an album feel than Rossz, however the orchestral sounds are horrible. he should get vienna strings and learn how to sequence for a virtual orchestra. i have heard people use sample libraries and get orchestral sounds that are undistinguishable from the real thing.

I love this album! My Favorite would have to be My Half. It just sounds great!
:o As for people saying that the orchestra samples sound like shit, I don't understand how you could say that. They sound fine to me if not Verging on great!

The thing I love about this album is it's intensity! Gets me rilled up everytime I listen to it.

I have to disagree - the orchestration sounds really bad. :P Nevertheless, it's not a bad album. Definitely not as good as Rossz, but not bad either.

But yeah, the orchestration is too obviously electronic to be enjoyed at times. It's weird because Rossz came before this and it sounds 100x better.

I prefer Rossz as well but I personally think he pulled off a more believable sound with his cellos and violins ect. on Downfall. I think that when I'm in the mood for Vsnares though I'm really looking for something other than what Downfall delivers, (which is kickass breaks and schizophrenic edits) though it is well done and I have still enjoyed it.

On a side note, Planet mu just dropped a 'teaser' clip of some upcoming stuff including a clip from some unreleased Snares track that sounds wicked.

Boooooooooorrrrriiiiiing! the beats are just tired old amens that sound EXACTLY the same in every track. Without any percussion, this album would be ok.

He's using other breaks as well as the amen. I guess some people can't pick those other hits out, perhaps because the amen is too familiar. Or maybe you need to be one of those people who makes this kinda music. I dunno.

This amen hating is really pissing me off though. Your tune isn't "better" because you use a different, randomly selected break from some shitty WAV pack you downloaded off the internet for free. It doesn't fucking matter get me? Indie guitarists use the same effects (it's called a trend), drummers hit the same drums, and all trumbones sound the same! Yes, inevitably, it's what you do with it that counts.

*sigh*.
