Those waterphones sounds pretty awesome. It really awesome, because they sound bit like normal instrument, bit like synth. Don't know if won't buy one sometime.

yea the waterphone is amazing, but the people who make them charge insane amounts of money. usually STARTING at 600 bucks for anything bigger than the size of a tin can.
would be a great project if you can weld and tune those pegs

Yeah, they are pretty expensive. But sound, like they are worth it. Also wonder how much hang solo would cost. I love such instruments. There are lots of not so rare, but not so common instruments, that sounds just great

The Ondes Martenot is one of my favourites ever!

I really, really love the rubab, an instrument played in Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan. I like the distinctly Afghan stlye of playing it the best though. The style is rhythmically and harmonically influenced quite heavily by Hindustani music. Like in Hindustani music tablas set the rhythm, but the decay on the notes is something that no Indian instrument has, and the fact that it's fretted lends a different playing style to it, with more staccatto plucking and less focus on glissando like you have in Indian music. The Indian sarod is built a lot like it, but sounds a lower register and has no frets.

I had a music teacher in elementary school who had a harpischord and omnichord.
